Vevey on Lac Leman is quite pretty; it's also where Charlie Chaplin retired and died. the lake is surrounded by Alps, almost as if the peaks are just rising out of the water. on a clear day, the combination of water and mountains seem to stretch on forever.
Vevey, however, is on flat land. if you want to get close to the mountains, it's better to be within them. Wengen and Murren in the Jungfrau region are both situated deep within those Alps, small, quaint, and you have breathtaking views of the Lauterbrunnen Valley below, with eternally snow-capped peaks above. it's also very easy to get away from other people in these small mountain towns, and hike in solitude to best enjoy the views.
you'll also get a lot of great views on train rides, and not just on the special rides (e.g., Glacier Express). i particularly like the tracks that run along Lake Thun and Lake Brienz... i always get the feeling that that's the "real" Switzerland (not something planned especially for tourists).

Start in Interlaken (wthout missing a side trip to nearby Lauterbrunnen) and drive into the mountain passes. I was there in August and I drove into Kanton Uri by way of the Sustenpass, which was both beautiful and nicely remote. Bring a camera with a LOT of space (or film, depending on your camera). I also drove through Klausenpass afterwards, heading east, and that too offered a lot of breathtaking panoramas. No doubt you can find more mountain passes to drive through, but the south of Switzerland's where all the mountains and mountain passes are, and you'll find no shortage of panoramas. But like I said... be prepared to be so awe-struck that you'll be snapping pictures like a fool! It's that pretty!

All of Switzerland is beautiful (I may be slightly biased). I'd definitely visit the city of Zurich, the views of the lake there are stunning. For less of an urban feel, I really like Basel. I really hope you enjoy your trip, the country has a lot to offer and is thriving with culture.

Actually I would recommend the town of Lucerne - it's very picturesque itself, and the mountain views are astonishing. In case of fog, you easily can ride up mount Pilatus to see all other mountains from there.
Wishing a nice journey here is this lovely country!
