ACLU Sues Texas Town for Not Renting to Illegals
"Immigration enforcement must be left to the federal government, not each local municipality," said Lisa Graybill, legal director of the ACLU of Texas. "Otherwise Texas will end up with a patchwork system that is impractical and unenforceable."
In November, City Council members unanimously approved having property managers or owners verify the immigration or citizenship status of apartment renters. Council members also approved resolutions making English the city's official language and allowing local authorities to become part of a federal program so they can enforce immigration laws.
More than 50 municipalities nationwide have considered, passed or rejected similar laws, but until now that trend hasn't been matched in the Lone Star State.

Mad Max 4 the ACLU's main headquarters is in New York City.
To show how twisted the ACLU is.....
ACLU lawyers Nancy Edelman and Harvey Gross talk to reporters about their fight to allow Nazis to burn down ACLU headquarters on Nov. 25.

I know the ACLU has always touted itself as suporting those without a means to get their voice/opinions heard on legal issues- usually the minority group, underdog, and/or dissenting opinion (as opposed to what the majority want or feel). I, along with most Americans, usually find myself opposing most of the people and causes they represent (supporting, representing, and, "expanding" rights of people who have broken our laws by entering our nation illegally and, subsequently, often breaking other laws- and, more, importantly really have very few, if any, rights set down by our Constitution- such as in the illegal immigration matter )but I admit they do sometimes do our nation a great service by bringing political and judicial issues to the forefront and by giving a voice to those who sometimes truely have a legal right but no means to be expressed. Make no doubt about it, however, that the ACLU's main goal has always to benefit themselves by generating money from taking on cases and clients, etc, by attempting to re-shape law and government for their purposes, and, by always keeping their organization in the national media spotlight.

The ACLU are a bunch of wacky liberals that fight for the wrong side.
They are still trying to get rid of a war memorial in San Diego - huge cross. Over 80% of voters want it but the ACLU "knows better" about these things - NOT!

The issue isn't the ACLU suing property owners for not renting, it's the ACLU suing the town for making it a crime for a property owner to rent to someone without verifying they are here legally. I don't know about you, but I thought part of the American system was freedom of contract. I should be able to rent my property to anyone I want to as long as they can pay. That's the issue here. If property owners want proof of legal residence, fine. If the city wants to fight overcrowding by enforcing zoning laws, fine. But if someone wants to rent my apartment and they satisfy my requirements (credit check, references, etc.), I shouldn't be forced into becoming a Jr. Immigration Detective. Really, there's no difference between this law and another law making it a crime to sell property to someone without first obtaining proof they are here legally. Do you want to have to provide your birth certificate and Social Security card the next time you go to buy lumber?

surely, they're thinking whether or no longer the state police had any probable reason. They have been stopped for a site visitors violation and after producing the license and registration they're claiming that the police then asked all passengers out of the motor vehicle and furnish identity. while they won't they asked for data of citizenship. They have been no longer able and have been escorted to the federal place of work of Immigration and Customs Enforcement in providence. The lawsuit isn't approximately their citizenship, as your person source explains, that's approximately whether or no longer the police had any probable reason to detain those persons. And on an identical time as unlawful extraterrestrial beings are no longer subject to the form and local rules our police are obligated to stick to them. The Fourth modification says very needless to say the police choose for probable reason, and local regulation states which you won't be able to hold absolutely everyone longer than it takes to attend to the site visitors violation. additionally prohibits the looking of vechiles in step with race or ethnicity. they're claiming that this replaced into violated. And by using fact the those rules, particularly the form, have been put in place to guard the rights of the guy they have each appropriate to report the lawsuit.

The ACLU is left-wing in the EXTREME.
Without the ACLU, Muslims would have been rounded up and put into gas chambers in 2001 - much as Jews were in the 1930's and 40's.
But, given the opposition - the EXTREME right wing in our country, they are a necessary evil.
There is a reason that moderates captured congress last November.
People are tired of extremists.

Its not ironic at all. The ACLU has a history of supporting criminals and communists, as well as anyone who attacks religion, particularly Christianity.
When has the ACLU ever defended someone's civil rights, for example, their Second Amendment right (the right to keep and bear arms)?

so which other powers would you like to see states arbitrarily just take from the federal government on the whim of governor??
maybe drug legalization?? I'm sure you can name a few that are better off that the state next to you doesn't change huh?
if you don't know how the law works, you shouldn't be commenting on it.
if this one law is let go, then every time a state tries to supersede the powers of the federal government, this precedent will be reviewed and will be what determines the supreme court decision on the next incident even if it has nothing to do with immigration!
furthermore, if land owners would just do their job of checking the ID of the person renting, they wouldn't be renting to illegals anyway!! How many illegals have state issued ID cards?? not many!
and as far as newmax.com is considered, i wouldn't believe 1/2 of anything that comes from them!!
