Very easily, when all the people of one group are dead, the country suddenly becomes united.

Well, it gave them the opportunity to unite - whether they take advantage or not will be observed in the future. The war did remove a religious minority from power, along with a repressive dictatorship, and captured a man that used chemical weapons on his own people. If the different Muslin sects in Iraq can form a national government is a big question.

I have personally spoken to many young men that have come back from duty in Iraq and they all have painted an opposite picture from what the media has presented to us. One young man told me the truth behind the purple fingered peace sign as we watched CNN reporting about it. The sign did not mean the people wanted peace and the US military out of their country. He told me that the Taliban posted signs everywhere stating if they saw any people with a inked finger (proof they had voted) they would be shot! They were really saying I voted and up yours to the Taliban!

First of all it is not a war it is a occupation, the war ended when Bush said mission accomplished on that aircraft carrier. Bush did great with removing the bad government but after that the occupation began and here we still are. If I was you, stand up in class and state after researching you decided to go with the majority of the American people.

I would like to see an United Iraq, but I am doubtful of it. Unlike the Europeans of WW 2, that wanted freedom, this country thrives on fighting. As you see, civil war is near as they dont seem to be able to align themselves on anything, except mis- alignment.
Good Luck!!!

Sweetheart, research the war in Iraq. Look how many people it has killed, both American and Iraqi. The way to make anyone, country or individual, be happy and at peace is to HELP them. Food, water, heat, schools. The US has imposed sanctions (we refused to help them with food, water, heat, and education) for so many years that 1 in 4 Iraqi children died before the age of five. Now the solution is to declare war? I have never heard of Unity coming out of the death of innocent children. I am not trying to dissuade you from your opinion but I am begging you to research it! Try bbc.co.uk ; worldlinktv.org; and factcheck.org. Try getting your info from someplace that is not American based so you can see our participation in Iraq through the eyes of the rest of the world......Best of luck in your search for the truth.........

It should unite the people by letting them pick and choose their leaders through the elections instead of having a dictator. Sadam Hussaine is scheduled to be hanged within 30 days, according to the news today his appeal of the death sentence was denied and they can hang him at any time now so hopefully this will end them having a dictator.

I really don't believe that they are ready to get over religious and sectarian differences to unite in the near - and somewhat distant future. That's what happens when England decides the borders of a nation sometimes.

They will be able to establish the rule of law instead of being ruled by a military dictator.
Each of the different sects of the population will be represented in a democratic government.
When freedom take hold they will see how much better it is to live in peace with each other.
