In what society? Generally speaking, most societies not only allow women to own and wear gold, they encourage it. This is especially true in Middle Eastern and certain African countries where a woman receives a dowry of gold jewelry when she marries.

Of course it is. In scripture, the ornaments referred to that you should avoid, were ones that were worn specifically to announce that the woman was for sale - a harlot, to be plain.
This has nothing to do with putting on your jewelry and looking nice. If God has blessed you that you are in the position where you can afford to buy a pretty gold chain or ring - wear it and enjoy it - don't listen to someone who would try to make you feel guilty about it, either --If it is not a result of stealing or some other ill-gotten gain, you have nothing to apologize for - God loves to bless his children.

Why not? I have 10 earrings, a wedding ring, and an engagement ring on 24/7, all gold. Nobody has every tried to stop me from doing it.

I think for anyone, man or woman, to own gold is a waste. Gold is just a mineral that costs lots of money. That money could go toward something meaningful, like college, or a house, or to the hungry. But that's just my opinion.
