I suggest you stop trying to make a distinction between Americans.
My entire grope of ancestors came to this then New World from Germany in 1702.They were NEVER illegal,there were no laws against mass immigration then as there are now.They helped form this country and paid for it with their sweat and their blood. Their blood runs freely over this land.I am a native born American,I am very proud of being an American.If you are a naturalized American then I'm proud for you too.You did thinks the lawful way.But people that choose to circumvent this nations immigrations policy's by sneaking across our borders don't deserve my respect.They are criminals.I live in Scottsdale AZ and I have many neighbors from many nations that are now legal Americans.They are doctors,lawyers and business owners
.They are not hyphenated Americans .
They are simply Americans and very proud.

It's a lot of things that goes into why some are against illegal immigrants. For me, its the legal ramification. I see it being dangerous when we tolerate violating our laws. Its a slipery slope. When we tolerate violating this law, then we start tolerating other violations. The bill demonstrates this. It states that we are willing to accept illegal immigrants that has felonies. If we allow this batch of illegal immigrants in, it would give a signal for others to come. If we don't control our borders, we would have the same situation as France. The Unemployment rate would increase, racial tension would build, then a riot would erupt. As for Taxes, no matter how you could it, the illegal immigrants would not be able to pay enough taxes to self support themselves. The middle class pay for most of the benefits the poor recieve. The poor never carried their own weight in taxes. Not only illegal immigrants are poor and cost the middle class in tax dollars, but they would cost us more than the average poor. They have increase medical needs, and they would cost more in education, and translators and other miscellaneous cost. As for a lost of cultural heritage, its only a minor concern, because I do see some assimilating. They are slower than other ethnic groups to do so, and thats part of the problem. The large numbers they arrive here, allow them to resist assimilating. The problem I see is its disruptive to our economy. Even though, Hispanic small business has grown tremendously, it comes at a cost of other small business. Some of the other small business are just mom and pop stores, and can not handle the change in demographics. They are often too small to hire those who can speak spanish. Even if they learn how to speak spanish, they would not fully understand Hispanic culture. The hispanic business would grow larger than American ones, because they have the Hispanic customers and some of the non-hispanics. The greater size of the hispanics business would allow them to cut cost and drive the Non-hispanic business into bankruptcy. Previous immigration prevented this, by having a more balance immigration, where several immigrant groups would enter America. This is one of the reason African AMerican small business is failing. I wouldn't mind so much of them staying, since the majority of damage they did to this country has been done already, If there was a fool proof way to prevent other illegal immigrants from arriving. I would like them to pay a large penalty. $5,000 is small compared to how much it cost some of them to enter the US. I would like to see some of the money from the penalties pay to help small business make a transition in the changing demographics.

I treat everyone I meet the same. I have had the pleasure of knowing many, many people of various ethic backgrounds , that live in the US legally, become citizens of the US or have visited the US legally. They are all proud , intelligent people with pride in their heritage.
*************
I do not have respect for people that come to the US illegally, steal or forge social security cards or work papers and drain the economy , march in the streets for rights only legal persons or citizen should have , or wave foreign flags all over the media while screaming about "their rights" and cursing the United States.
~~~~~~~~~~~~ This happened in May 2006 ...........
The Senate shot down an amendment (S. 3985) offered by Sen. John Ensign (R.-Nev.) today that would have made it illegal for immigrants to count their years as illegal workers toward the 10-year U.S. work requirement necessary to receive Social Security benefits.
My Senator voted against this bill - interesting that he lost the re-election in November as being to harsh on illegals..... Its a crock.
Some people think they know the different but they don't. Must American think that since you have an accent you are illegal. I have so many people asking me if I'm legal in this country. They forget about the US Territories residents. We are as legal as them.
I agree with you because if everyone searched their family history they would find that many of their ancestors originated from another country!! I think a lot of Americans don't agree with Illegal immigrants because we have had to change a lot of our society to mesh with them....I mean it is rude when someone asks you if you speak spanish and you say no and they are pissed off at you because you don't....This is America and there is no where that states that everyone must learn the laungage of others outside The US to please people and illegals and legal immigrants need to understand this!! God Bless
