I think at 9 months old she will get over you a lot easier. 9 month old retrievers are energetic and playful dogs and will love someone as long as they get love and exercise. I am extremely sorry to hear about your unfortunate circumstance.

As for the remaining retriever, I would definitely keep giving extra love, extra treats, and extra exercise. Once you are sure the other retriever is gone for good, unless you want three dogs if the lost one returns, then get another playmate as soon as you feel like puppy shopping.

lastly, I'm sure you have, but check the local dog pounds or humane societies. they will have records of found dogs, reported dogs, or injured dogs. sorry again and good luck with both pups.

I am very very sorry to hear your companion was stolen. If only theives could understand the pain they cause when they do something like this. I would have to say that your dog would be depressed, but it would depend on the environment. I would check with the police to see if this is happening a lot in your neighborhood. Perhaps you can help others by posting fliers stating that someone is stealing dogs in the neighborhood and they should keep their pets under constant supervision. I hope that your dog is returned safely home.

I am so sorry for your loss. I lost a cat once who was also the best friend of my dog (Mugsie) The cat died, Mugsie sat on his grave site for 3 days, he wouldn't eat, he cried, he was just so sad. I never realized until that moment how much our pets "feel". But that experience has made me appreciate all the animals in my life so much, and there have been many!. We have rescued, doctored, loved and found homes for so many animals over the years.
I do frimly believe that your GR misses you but, like my Mugsie, love will eventually win your pet.

Pray that they love her. But if you can find the thieves ............. Well you know what to do when you catch a dog thief,.......... in the good ole days you hung em'

God Bless and Give your other dog lots of love cause he really is hurting.

Im sorry your puppy was stolen that's always a horrible thing to go through but honestly as long as she's being taken care of and everything like I hope the theifs are kind of to do she should be allright she's young yet. As for your depressed dog just try giving him some more attention then usual.
