Schedule an appointment with a gynecologist. Make sure to tell the receptionist that you want TIME to DISCUSS birth control options. Then do a little research before your appointment and have questions. Nuvaring.com has a great website that is very informative. Look for others to visit. Take notes.
Then when you see the gynecologist, make sure s/he TAKES THE TIME, to discuss methods you've learned about, side effects, administration options, etc.
IT IS YOUR BODY, YOUR ONLY BODY, OWN IT , PROTECT IT! Take the time to do what is best by educating yourself and ensuring your health provider LISTENS as well as talks to you about your options.

I've been on a couple different kinds of pills since I was a teenager...some had higher hormones then others. I had an IUD for awhile after my miscarriage but had it removed because I started having complications. I tried the Nuva Ring too and my boyfriend said he didn't feel anything but I found my periods were very heavy with it so I switched back to pills. Ask your doctor about the best one for you. It may take a couple tries of different ones before you find what is right for you.

Depends on your age, medical conditions, relationship status, many factors. Remember that no method except abstinence (not having sex) is foolproof. If you use birth control pills, they do not prevent sexually transmitted diseases, so you still need condoms. Best answer: talk to your doctor or go to a clinic. If you're a teenager, there should be county clinics where you can get free or low cost birth control without parents' consent.

Your GYN can help you decide. But, really it depends on whether you have trouble remembering to take a daily pill or whether you have health conditions that prohibit you from taking the hormones in the pill, the patch or the shot. There are so many varieties of BC to choose from nowadays. Basically if you are in good health, whatever is the most convenient for you will work the best.

Evaluate your choices...do some research. Which of them have common side effects you would find acceptable? Decide if you want something to take daily (the pill), monthly (patch and nuva ring I think...ring may be less frequent), quarterly (depo provera injection), lasts for years (IUD), etc.
Read about the different types, the pros and cons, take into consideration your health and what you would be able to take/use...talk to your doctor and make an informed decision. If you don't like your initial choice, you can always change to something else.
I'm on the injection...I get it 4x a year. One side effect was that it immediately stopped by periods, although I'd have light spotting for about 2 wks before my next shot was due, even that stopped after a couple of years. Weight gain is an issue for some if they don't watch their diet and stay active. For me, it's been my preferred choice, after having used the pill for many years.
You need to choose what is right for you and your lifestyle.

YOu have to try different things. first off not sure of your age but if you are inquiring about birth control your acting responsibly. You can try oral birth control, and now there is vaginal birth control. Ask your GYN doctor for help.

It depends on what you need BC for. Are you looking to control Acne, preventing pregnancy, or controlling your period? Also take into account your skin sensitivity, because the patch can irritate your skin. For acne or controlling your period, try the pill. For preventing pregnancy, the pill, the shot, the patch, and the ring are all good when used as directed.

The very best birth control is not spreading your legs, keeping your pants on, etc.
And of course, dummy, go to your gynecologist.
