I took the ASVAB back in the 80s so I don't remember what the scores are. The 3.4 sounds really good though.

IF you can pass the P.T. test, don't have anything nasty in your jacket (like a drug arrest) I'd say your chances were pretty good. Have you done ROTC? That way you can get your comission and get some free school to boot.

Remember recruters have been known to lie, so try to find someone who doesn't have something to gain who is qualified to advise you. I'd call the ROTC unit at a college that isn't in the same town you are. They won't have anything to gain by getting you in, so they won't lie to you, but they will have access to the data you need, like AFQT.

Personally I'd recomend branching M.I. and avoid M.P. unless you want a career in law enforcement. M.I. is interesting, fun, and challenging; and you get to work on all sorts of neat places. (I was on CENTCOM staff for a little over two years. It was interesting work and I didn't have to live in a tent....well not much.) M.P. is in such high demand these days it is nearly impossible to get out. S.F. really needs folks, but only if you can cut it, they won't lower their standards just becuase there is a war on and they are short bodies.

When do you graduate from college? Can you perform the PT necessary to qualify? Officers are recruited in their junior year of college. Keep working at it and you will make it.
