Seriously, 800 mg of Motrin. I know it seems like a lot of pills, but it works. It is also safe. When my doctor prescribes me Motrin, they are 800 mg each. It says to take 1-2 every 6 hours as needed. When I ran out once, my doctor told me to go get regular Motrin at the store and take as many as it took to equal 800 mg. Motrin helps with the swelling. Ambesol might help in the short term as well, but it only lasts 5 minutes or so. Also, go check out the aisle for teething babies. :) There is nothing worse than a toothache. Good luck!

There is no way to "cure" a toothache. Some form of dental treatment needs to be done (filling, root canal, extraction) Your dentist will make the diagnosis. All of these other suggestions are just a TEMPORARY fix. Go to your dentist!

rinse his mouth out with a mixture of hyrogen peroxide and water. Becarefull not to use tooo much peroxide. (its also known to break down tissue). Then you need to get him started on antibotics to clear up the infection. After that is cleared then he can go to the dentist. I am on my way to the dentist right now myself. Hope that helps.

I think it's called Ambesol, and Anbesol. You put it directly on the area and it sure numb the pain away. But it only works temporary. The best thing you could do is see your dentist.

oil of cloves directly on the tooth and surrounding gum.
GET TO YOUR DENTIST. you can only ease the pain, but without proper treatment of the cause of the pain, it won't go away completely.

my dentist told me to rub vanilla extract on the tooth...I thought he was crazy but it worked.......put some on a cotton ball and place the cotton ball on your tooth and it should take away some of the pain.....plus take some ibuprofen...it has an anti inflamatory in it which will help if the nerve is swollen........good luck.
