Rice is high in carbs. The body uses carbs for energy. When carbs break down, they turn in to simple sugars that the body uses for energy. If there is no call for the on slot on energy, the body stores it for later (fat). So if there is no exercises program to go with your diet, the body will just keep storing and you will not lose the weight.

You know rice is actually very healthy only if you take it in moderation. Too much rice could result in the rearrangement of the carbohydrate molecules turning into something of glucose... So in other words, just eat it in moderation? Oh, and it also depends on what you eat WITH it too.

Rice is pure carbs. Any fat you get from it depends on what you cook and eat it with, but it's pure carbs. Us bicyclists love it for the "quick sugar" we get from it. It is important to realize, though, as I've just learned, that unused carbs become cholesterol over time, and just because it isn't "fat" as we typically think of fat, carbs can make you look fatter 'n' hello!!God Bless you.

How many overweight Asians do you see? Typically it's the stuff we put ON the rice that makes us fat. The same goes for pasta and potatoes.

i have the same problem...im korean and i eat like three big bowls of rice a day lol!!

and like that other person said, its not that fatty but it does have a lot of carbs and if you only eat rice then you will gain weight, but if you eat veggies with it and eat in moderation you will be able to lose weight and still eat it

Well, rice I believe is carbohydrates which can lead to weight gain, but that's only if you consume LOTS of carbs. I don't think rice alone will contribute to significant weight gain.

I don't think it is. Look at people from countries in which rice is staple part of diet. They're all super skinny.
