Two nights ago, for work, I attended a Christmas Special. The choir sang a song that just moved me to tears. It was a typical carol they sang, but then it kinda' changed & they began singing differently, like it was for here...for now... for me. Suddenly it wasn't some distant & foreign occurrence, but it was almost real for a second.
I couldn't stop crying. What happened?

I'm Jewish, but I had to go for work. They were singing some Christmas carol about G-d with us? Then it changed; became gentle...almost personal.

I think your heart was softened.
You need to attend a church that has a marvelous choir. Maybe the Lord will speak to you through the choir.

There could be several explainations for the occurance. God will cause your heart to break and then bless you all at the same time. If you think it was God, get a Bible and start reading. Ask God to help you understand. Read the Psalms out loud, as these are proven effective prayers, and God will work in your life. To learn more about what I believe, visit this web site. www.doyledavidson.com. He was a successful man and God took hold of him and changed him. I have learned more since I met him than from any church I had ever been to. He will tell you the truth. BOLDLY. That is love. God is truly using this man to preach the Bible to the world! God Bless

Simple; you felt the power that a group can create when everyone involved are on the same level of consciousness and creating positive influence. Obviously you have or have had prior issues pertaining to the reality of belief in what was being communicated, and at that point and time the power generated from the singing allowed you to see the true beauty of its meaning; which will move any truly caring human being to tears, of joy which is what they are, that there is true beauty in the world.

Depending on Your Age and the type of Family you were born into, and the PAST CHRISTMAS Experiences you have had, You just LET OUT SOME OF THAT BOTTLED UP = EMOTION!
You didn't even tell us what Christmas Carol they SANG? Was it Rock Around the Christmas Tree -or- WAS it a Religious ONE?
IF and IF I say you think you had a Religious Experience and it DOES not drive you to Seek GOD,= Then it is False!
Please hear what GOD says in His Word?
(Jeremiah 29:11-to-13) For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the LORD, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end.
(Jer 29:12) Then shall ye call upon me, and ye shall go and pray unto me, and I will hearken unto you.
(Jer 29:13) And ye shall seek me, and find me, when ye shall search for me with all your heart.
Thanks, RR

You were moved by the Christmas Spirit - that spirit of love and giving that can stir up memories of a time past or a future not yet reached. It was a very emotional Christmas for many of us.
Peace!

you felt the presence of the Holy Ghost as it witnessed to you. or
God. i believe the Holy Ghost is God and he was witnessing to you and showing you the truth. the Bible said that the Holy Ghost is a witness not for those who believe but to those who dont. i dont know if you go to church regulary or just that one time or now and then. but if not then he was letting you know i am real. i meaning God.
when the Holy Ghost moves upon you it is real you just cant see it. the Holy Ghost is like the wind. you dont know when it comes or goes or were it comes from you can just feel its pressance. it is such an awesome experiance.
someone a little farther down said that it was real and has been real everyday and will be real every other day. just wanted to say it wont be real every other day it will be real everyday.
i also have had similar experiances when the pastor or an evangilist is preaching and at first it seems just like a normal sermon and then something hits and i am crying and it is hitting close to home and feels more personal. sometimes God uses someone to show us the truth and other times just to show us that he is alive in us.

This is what real church music is all about, i.e. a balance of words with substance that are glorifying to God, and melody that also touches the heart. Saw that in a hymnal once, and it stuck with me.
What's cool is the idea that the choir had no idea whose lives they touched that night with their voices. You just never know, so there's another lesson for you.

Faith can be beautiful. Even if it is not yours.
Every once in awhile i watch "A Charlie Brown Christmas" I am always moved by Linus's Monologue explaining Christmas. I do not believe, but the voice used speaks of a simple honest faith.

It was real! You felt the presence of the Holy Spirit well up within you. God gives gifts (Fruits of the Spirit(Charity, Joy, Peace, Patience, Kindness, Goodness, Generosity, Gentleness, Faithfulness, Modesty, Self-Control,Chastity)) to all. But, we do not receive them all. One person may get one or two but not all. What you felt was a culmination of the fruits of the Spirit manifested within the group you were with. And yes, God did that for all. He did that for you. Thank God for it for not all of us receive it or sometimes it goes un-noticed. I hope you receive more blessings...

that was God speaking to you, sending you a blessing thru music...people can scoff all they want, but i truly believe that you were blessed with a special experience...i have those from time to time-not always at church-i can be reading something or thinking about something, and suddenly it hits me...the truth, the beauty, the joy of it all, the way He created it, the way He meant for me to experience it...it's like being 'in the zone' in a spiritual sense...nothing compares to it...it's God's love, touching you
