I've got 2 cats. I haven't had them long. Anyway, I got them this cool toy for Christmas that's kinda like a swing only smaller with little toys and stuff hanging down for them to slap. I came home and it was destroyed. One is a girl about 1 year old and the other is a boy about 2 years old. The girl is mean and stays into stuff. The boy is laid back. Both are fixed. Who should be in trouble? The boy got the heck outa Dodge and the girl just sat there looking guilty.

Always blame the boy. That's why he got the heck out of dodge!

:)

I wouldn't worry about it too much. At least they enjoyed the toy for a day....got a lot of use out of it.

They can't get into trouble. How can they be punished for having too much fun. I bet it was the girl. Try to put it back together again and see if she still wants to play with it while you're trying to fix it. That will give you a good clue as to who had too much fun with it. Then go buy another one! At least you know they like it!!!

No one can be in trouble, now. Animals don't understand what they're being punished for if you don't catch them in the act and react immediately, while the bad behavior is happening.

Anyway, they didn't know they were being bad. They just thought they were playing with their toy ;)

You are probably never going to figure it out cause cats can't talk so its not like they are going to tell you. But one good suggestion would be to try to fix the toy instead of wasting time trying to figure out which one broke it.

okay, from my experience, the laid back one is usually the one that does stuff then leaves the hyper active cat to get into trouble cause who would think that he did it, but honestly there is no way for you to know, maybe set up a camera when you leave the house and see what they do from now on

Neither, cause you don't know for sure who did it, and for cats the past is in the past. Even if you did punish them, they wouldn't know what it was for. Buy them things that aren't so easily destroyed next time.

I thought you said you gave it to them. Now you try to put conditions on the GIFT.? Sorry if it was expensive, but after all it wasn't yours any more. You gave it to them.
