If you've NEVER seen it, or experienced it - then, yes. Give it a try so you can find out first hand whether it's something you can live without.

You should note that having a fairly up-to-date PC or laptop means that can be used as a TV for when you get fed-up doing things on the computer (or do a split-screen option where you can watch TV AND surf on the same monitor via your computer. All you need is an external or internal TV card (many of which come with a remote control and full function for only £16 or ~US$30).

If money is tight, go for a TV adaptor card for your PC or laptop. You wont get Sky's premium sites of sport or movies, but you get all the freeview and digital radio channels (if you choose the right adaptor). Just check the System Requirements for each adaptor against what you already have.

If you're OK with cash for a contractual minimum of a year - then give Sky (or ntl) a go. Initially it's fun, it's good and the massive choice of channels is impressive. But, after time that wears off and you eventually come to your senses and look at what you're actually paying good hard cash for.

I had ntl for about 5 years then 'woke up'. I got rid of it completely and have only the basic freeview channels 'cos one of the things that started pissing me off (apart from the regular price hikes), was that all my SkySports and SkyMovie channels had adverts in them even though I was paying through the nose for those specific channels. YOU pay to be advertised at!!!

I didn't like it and chucked it out.

But, if you're curious and can afford it - go for it, try it, see how it fits.....

...then come back in a year or so and say, "Robin, you were right. But I just HAD to try it for myself. Thanks:))"

Edit: If you want to ask me anything more specific, email me via my avatar. I'll answer truthfully and accurately - if I know the answer to what you need.

if u get a special offer- then usually they do something like the box and installation is free. they put up a dish thing and connect it to the box which then plugs into your tv through the scart. whether it is worth it or not depends on your package that you get- if you like sports then the sport pac is wel worth it- i have it myself nd there are alot of football matches and stuff tht arent on terrestial. but if you dnt really watch tht much tv then theres no point- just get one of those freeview box things- you can pick one up for around £30. the subscription to sky is £10+ a month depending on wot channels you get- some of them- like sky one(which is great) are free as long as you have sky- the movie package, although there are quite a few repeats on there and the movies could easily be bought from any dvd shop it is ok for an afternoon in or if they get one of your fav movies on there- also some great old movies on them and channels like tcm. some good drama aswell and usually you would get comedy channels. but as i say, it al deends on how much you watch tv...

I have had it the last 10 months and I honestly can't recommend it. If I lived in an area where I could get Freeview I would rather have that - it's cheaper and the quality of viewing is better (I have a good friend who has Freeview).

if you are talking about the british sky....well i think it comes in english i'm not sure...but i lived in germany for 4 years and like tehre are a lot of channels. 20 music video channels. and they show a bunch of american tv shows. like will and grace, charmed, according to jim, fear factor, disney channel, cartoon network, nickelodeon, 20 movie channels...so it depends on what you like. and they have some pretty cool british shows. and they have like +1 channels which is like they will play a show on disney channel and it will be on the plus one channel an hour later. so i liked it when i had it...

The boycott is somewhat pointless now to be uncomplicated. each and every journalist and editor in touch in that tale is long long previous, and Murdoch became in all threat never even in touch in publishing it. So what are we boycotting precisely? the form? that is basically a remember of concept i think, even nonetheless it has little to do with Rupert Murdoch. individually, the only reason I boycott The solar is by technique of the fact it somewhat is a glorified image e book for retards.

Programs are up linked to the satellite, and beamed back down to you.
The programs are POOR!
The sport coverage, except for football is POOR!
The films are repeated far to many times, and it is cheaper to rent a film from your local video shop!
If you like shopping channels, or God squad programs, then hey go for it!
