acetone!!!! before it is an actual sore... put a drop on a cotton ball and press it against the spot that hurts.

Well cold sores don't usually happen under your chin....so I'd be sure first before you put anything on it. Maybe you were bit by a spider.
The best thing you can put on a cold sore is Abreva...it's a little pricey, but it actually does what it says. It works so well, you could put in on right when you feel a tingle, and the chances of it popping up is small.

if I'm not mistaken, ma be i read this somewhere....but if you will keep cloves of garlic in your fridge, or cabinets, its good for lots of things. for a cold sore, the minute you feel the tingle, carefully get some garlic on it soon, and it might even go away. ma be you think its gross,. and it is, but you dint like your cold sore either.....so garlic is a great home remedy for lots of things

Hey, I use ban deodorant, just a drop from one of the trial size bottles so it hasn't been under my arms! It works super fast, and to me it sounds much safer than the other remedies mentioned here! I can't see putting acetone anywhere near my mouth, but who knows!
