It damages the retina that part in the back of the eye. It does not reshape the cornea, above answer is not responding to the laser used as a weapon but rather to surgical laser procedures to help with vision.

Laser pointers are not really lasers. A laser pointer does a bout the same amount of damage as a camera flash

Are you referring to laser pointers? The tiny spot of the beam is focused on the retina where it causes thermal injury.

Lasik, the medical procedure, changes the shape of your cornea.
