God did a bunch of miracles one time to let us know He's there and that's it. People wouldn't like miracles happening all the time because then life would be too unpredictable. People need to feel that they are in control. Seeing a miracle doesn't make you a good person, so there's no point for Him to do it again. People who seek God can learn about the miracles he already did, and those who wish to deny him would have come up with some strained explanation even if he did miracles. There's a great scene like this in the movie "Brother, Where Art Thou?" Some would argue that every sunrise, every time a baby is born is a miracle. People just try not to attribute them to God.

I love what the character God said in Bruce Almighty:
"Parting a soup is not a miracle, Bruce. It's a magic trick. A single mom who's working two jobs, and still finds time to take her son to soccer practice, that's a miracle. A teenager who says "no" to drugs and "yes" to an education, that's a miracle. People want me to do everything for them. What they don't realize is *they* have the power. You want to see a miracle, son? Be the miracle."

Very honest question Nate and very hard to deal with. Yes we all want God to show himself real to our senses more. But truly miracles were never prevalent or common place. Biblical recording of them is usually the highlight moments skipping over the many millions that never experience anything.
I have experienced one miracle. Never again, and nothing else obvious to my senses. I have always wished for more and to see them everywhere but that is not the case and never was.
This caused me difficulty sometime but I can never forget the one I didexperience which holds me down.
Another testimony of somone who should know is the Psamist King David. In many Psalms he talsk about Gods hand doing this or that and yet in others he is saying God where are you, come down and prove yourslef, show the unbelievers you are real and a God who cares, you are making us look like liars and fools. This also gives me courage to wait and trust.
There is one more thing, God returns to us what we give to him. The sciprute says he shows himself froward to the froward, faithful to the faithful, perverse to the perverse here is the quote
"With the merciful you will show yourself merciful; with an upright man you will show yourself upright;
26 With the pure you will show yourself pure; and with the fraudulent you will show yourself devious. "
and in proverbs 17:20, concerning the froward or perverse
He that has a fraudulent heart finds no good: and he that has a perverse tongue falls into mischief.
and proverb 11:20
They that are of a fraudulent heart are abomination to the LORD: but such as are upright in their way are his delight.
God is constantly then judging us as individuals and nations and treating us according to our deserts.
Our sins can only be hidden when we come to christ in humility and repentance towards God

Yes, it goes hand in hand, in part, with a severe lack of faith. The truth though, is that there ARE still miracles today, and it is in direct response to having faith in prayers. I am not talking Benny Hinn, etc, type healings on national tv. I am an example of a miracle happening, to my spine, when I was a freshmen in highschool. My severe scoliosis, which I was about to have operated on, was completely healed, after a very small prayer from a pastor, and my mom and I. We prayed together, and had faith. I went to my pre -op appointment, and we had to cancel the surgery. I am 36 now, and never did need it. That would have been the second of two operations. I have had other miracles happen, in response to my praying, fevers being lifted, LOTS of things. Never again, will I say that God does not answer prayer. Just pray the way the bible tells you to.
To follow up, it makes sense, that when Jesus was walking the earth, he could VERY easily perform miracles, even though he wasn't obligated to, like now, God is not obligated to answer. We all still have to die someday, etc. Those things actually did happen. Your last statements, are not provable, or true, sorry. "everything", about history, always been known, etc? Come on.....

Miracles still happen...maybe you should adjust your focus? Seriously, biblical miracles had to be big. Jesus had to prove who he was and he only had a little time to do it. Besides, the holy ghost wasn't here yet either...and he is another source of persuasion and conviction that wasn't present until after Christ's death.
So...seriously...look for the miracles around you. Sick people getting well, safety from accidents, the sunrise, the technology increase...its all around you.

There's no "severe lack of miracles nowadays."
Miracles happen all the time. The fact that they're not on CNN or the BBC doesn't mean that they don't happen.
I personally know two people who were diagnosed with medical conditions for which there was no medical hope. Both are perfectly healthy today as a result of faith and prayer.
And I'm sure they're not the only ones.

as human morality and disrespect goes down down down its a miracle there are not more murders... that can be explain this way. In 1972 an estimated 16% of adults over the age of 21 were on meds.... the figure in 2005 was 76%!!! Take away the meds and we are doomed within 2-3 years.

Miracles happen all the time. It's a miracle that we have a way to buy things with our limited budget. It's a miracle that when it looks like there is no way, God makes a way. People who don't have any faith don't see miracles for what they are. They want a light show or water changing to wine. They don't see the little miracles.

I don't think miracle can happen at all. At least I never experienced something amazing. Most likely if I am doing something I'll get screwed up, or injured or even choke when I eat, or lose money, or something bad always happen to me...you know...like the other day kids were playing and the ball rolled over to me and I just to be good rolled ball back to them and somehow it hit a nail or piece of glass and it popped...and kids cried and everybody hates me...it just happen....bad luck, no miracles... not here...never..

I think the world is just so caught up in being self-serving and self-righteous it does not take the time to notice the miracles of God's design, much less thank Him for them.
