~~DONT PANIC~~
Just the fact that you care enough to ask shows that you will do just fine.
When a puppy gets his shots he will usually run a small fever and sleep extra for a day or two. So no worries, this is normal.
One thing you should not do though: don't moisten his food. He is use to a certain diet and the moistened food will be unusual and he probably wont eat it. Keep the dry food out for him, and always have water for him to drink.
At this point with your new puppy is a great time to start house-training. Put the puppy on a schedule, for example take him out to the designated area you want him to use (always the same place) at the same time everyday. For such a young guy, about every 3 hours will do, and yes that means in the night too. Also right before you take him out, offer him some water, this will make him need to go out and suddenly he is doing exactly as you wanted.
You can also pick a designated area that is quiet for your puppy to sleep, if you don't have a crate, put some towels in a corner and put your sleeping puppy there.
Good luck and congratulations on the new puppy.

If you can't find it within yourself to play with it and get to know it, then put the puppy in a kitchen, bathroom, or someplace where little puppy poops won't hurt any thing. Place newspaper on the floor, show it the food and water and provide a few toys. It will OK by it's self for a few days. Provide a towel or blanket as a bed.
Also may need to provide some kind of extra warmth, a light bulb is a good source.
Right now the little guy/girl doesn't know anything about it's new home than you know about the pup. With no one to watch you you can become a kid again and get down on all four and play with puppy. You'll get a kick out of it even if you don't tell any one you did this.
Just enjoy him until your parents return.

It's normal for the puppy to sleep a lot. It is a baby after all, and babies sleep a lot because their bodies are working extra hard at growing. Adding just a tablespoon or two of water to the dry food will help soften it enough for the puppy to chew. Also, if it is a small breed, the dry food may be too big for the puppie's teeth to break down. Smaller breeds need smaller morsels. Don't worry. Just hold and love the puppy and it will be just fine! Good luck!

WOW!!! I cant believe I just read all of that but it sounds like you both have issues. Now for one you got with him too young and for it to be a serious relationship. If you are cheating you are either not trying really hard to make it work or you dont have that type of attraction to him. I would stop cheating, and try to make it work. If you cant make it work, then get your GED, get a job, and start saving money on the side. He deserves the secretive because he robbied you of some of your childhood. He should have never been with you since you were under age. Now if you are now married, and you get divorced, you can get child support and alimony if you can try to stay married for at least 5 years. I got married when I was 19. I was married for 12 years and stuck to it. I had thoughts of cheating but never did. I ended up leaving him because he didnt change a bit after the 12 years. I lost my 20's and my childhood, cause I had my first babies at 16(twins). Now I am 35, divorced and have 5 kids. But I have a great job, own my house and car. You can do it, it just takes advance planning. And dont depend on no guy but your husband right now. Guys will sleep with you and leave you. Also with you sleeping around could give ya STDS or worse and you will be bringing it home to your hubby. Not cool. Plus, what if you get pregnant again then you will have babies with no bio father. You have alot to think about. Try marriage counciling? Try what ever it takes please to make it work, then if it doesnt then get your crap together and leave. He cant take your kids if you have income and a roof over your head. Unless he can prove you get high, then they will be gone. yes your marriage is a joke, but you have kids, and he is your best friend. You two need to see if there is still love there and work together at the marriage.

Add water to your dry dog food or go get some moist puppy food packs and make sure that it's for puppies. Keep a watch on it and it should be okay and remember the puppy will sleep alot for a few days especially until it gets rested from the tramatic ordeal of getting a new home and going to the vet. Good Luck!

Why are you afraid you'll kill it? Is the "baby" crying, making a lot of noise? Is the puppy "going" all over?
Remember this is a baby... like having a 18-month-old around. Babies that age don't do much besides eat and sleep. In the case of puppies, this is also a GREAT opportunity to housebreak him!!!
Add water to his food to soften it up, don't offer him more than 1/2 cup of food/5 pounds of puppy 2x daily.... (if Puppy is 10 pounds, he won't eat much more than 2 cups/day).
Regarding housebreaking, use an oven timer or something similar and set it for about 20 min after he eats, when the timer goes off, take Puppy outside, play, walk, whatever. When he squats to do his business, wait, let him git-er-dun... then praise, pet, etc. Treats, "Good Boy!!" in a high-pitched cheesy happy voice are also really good.
If you catch him doing his business inside, shout his name to get his attention, pick him up, tuck his tail under run to the door, and put him down outside.... again, when he finishes his business, praise him.
If/when he makes a mess in the house, pick up whatever solid stuff is there, dry up as much as you can, then sprinkle baking soda on the area. It will absorb the remaining moisture and stink, and it will cancel out acid, like if Puppy gets sick on the carpet.
Best of luck.

Did the breeder or rescue group not give you a list? Why wouldn't they keep the dog until your parents got back? A good breeder would have no problems keeping the dog until the home was stable. But, a dog being sold on Christmas with no instructions sounds like the work of another BYB. Probably someone on here since this site is overrun with it.
Anyway, feed the dog, play with it, and exercise it. And please take a moment to learn about how to find a responsible breeder for next time. Good luck to you all. : )

I was taking care of my twin sisters at age 11, married at 18, had my first kid at 19. I knew how to take care of the kids, our pets, my 2 stepkids, a big house, etc. Just use common sense. Feed the puppy. It will eat. Make sure it has fresh clean water to drink. Keep it warm, give it love. It should be okay until your parents get back unless the breeder sold you a sick puppy. Relax. Everything will be okay.

Take him out for walks and romps around your backyard with a ball. Play with him, but not too rough. He will get tired after you play with him so he might sleep for a while. Be prepared to wake up at 3 in the morning to let him eliminate. Make sure you supervise him at ALL TIMES. If you have a crate for him then he's fine, but it's like putting a bull in a china closet. Good luck!

The shots can make them sleepy. The dry food is fine, just make sure you place a bowl of water with the food. Make sure you take it out to the bathroom ON A LEASH when it wakes up, after it eats and after playing. You'll do fine!
