How many times can you get chicken pox?
I have had them twice before a few years apart
and i think i have them again
the only reason im not sure if it is chicken pox is that, if it is, it would be the third time of having them
and i was always told that if you had them once you would not have them again
and when i got them the second time, i was told thats unusual to have them again
They are just like chicken pox
Have i got chicken pox for a third time
or is it something else?

it is entirely possible to get chicken pox more than just once. My sister, myself and 2 of our cousins all had chicken pox the same year. One of my cousins got it a second time and she was told that it is very possible since she didn't had it very bad the first time. I guess it is possible that her immune system hadn't built up a defence to it since it hadn't been very bad at all. My sister was only a little worse than my cousin and my other cousin and myself had it very bad. I don't know how many vinegar baths my dad ran for me. I was a squeaky clean kid for those 2 weeks I stayed home from school. Now they have chicken pox immunization for 1 year olds I believe it is. My son just turned 2 in October and I remember him getting that shot last year.
I would seriously get in to see your dr and let them know ahead of time why you want to see him/her as they may want to get you in at the end of the day to avoid possibly passing it onto other patients if it is contagious.

PS ~ oatmeal in the bath works really well to take away the itch, just put real whole oats in a cheese cloth or a thin face cloth, tie it up and toss it in a warm bath. I prefered this over vinegar for itches, it smells much better and also leaves your skin feeling better.

Actually, I was just reading about this when my kids had chickenpox last year. According to the CDC, it is possible, although very rare, for some people to not develop an immunity to the chickenpox. I'd say if it walks like a duck and talks like a duck, it probably is a duck (or a chicken LOL!)

I'd talk to your doctor just in case, because you'll need to stay away from babies and old people because you'll still be contagious until the pox scab over.

You have not had chicken pox three times. Chicken pox is a virus, when you have the virus you build up immunity to it and you don't "catch" it again. I have heard the tale that you can get it twice but I think that would be so rare as to be nonexistent. I suspect that you have some other type of virus that has a rash and you are just confusing it with chicken pox.

Chicken pox in kids; shingles in adults...you must be miserable. Yes, you can get it several times as an adult. Doctor needs to check and prescribe something...
