Divinity not setting is generally caused by a lack of proper cooking temperature. Other problems might be a lack of beating of the mixture. I have also noticed that weather conditions seem to have a slight role in the success/failure rate of divinity and other confections. As for troubleshooting, I have seen failed divinity re-done in a double boiler with apparent success. Others may have better idea's.

From candy_101 : High humidity (over 60 percent) in the room in which you’re cooking will affect the finished candy. On rainy days, some say to cook the candy mixture a degree or two higher than indicated in the recipe to help compensate, but it doesn't always work. Some candies — like divinity — absolutely cannot be made on a humid day.

Humidity. Divinity fudge needs to be made when it is not humid. This is the number one reason divinity doesn't harden. Also be aware that even boiling something on the stove, like beans, can make your kitchen too humid for divinity to set up. Good luck next time, keep trying.
