Is this supposed to be a riddle?
Its an old philosophical puzzle that I spent a great deal of time contemplating in my mid teens.
Simplest answer is yes - it doesnt make a noise BECAUSE we're there so why would it stop doing so if there is nobody present? The catch of course is that without someone there to perceive it, how could it be regarded as sound rather than a pressure wave in the air?
It gets more complicated with the linear super positions of quantum mechanics - if you can't observe the tree - how can you be sure it's fallen over at all?

Certainly, it makes the noise of a tree falling down in a crowded wood.

sure if a tree falls down in the woodland it does make a noise. in actuality it makes a great type of noise. in basic terms because of the fact a human isn't there to take heed to the form, in the woods, there is a lot of different existence types that could!

Try this experiment. Get a deaf lumberjack to set up a microphone and recording equipment. Then he cuts down a tree. You weren't there so you won't hear it, the lumberjack didn't hear it. But afterwards you can play it back. If you hear the tree falling, then you'll know it made a noise when it fell.

When the tree falls, it creates vibrations that if you were close by your ears would translate as sound. But since no one is around, the vibrations go unregistered.
So no - it doesn't make a sound...
unless you're counting the ears of whatever animals found in the area. Then yes, it creates a sound to them, whether they care about the sound is an entirely different question!
Cheers!

Yes - it makes noise.
Its just that if no-one is near it then humans would need to develop super hearing in order to hear that noise.
How about you place some recording equipment in the woods, or microphones linked to satellite relays - then you have a better chance of hearing the noise of your isolated falling tree in the woods.

Just because no one, is around when the tree falls ,
does not stop it, making the usual , 'tree falling' noise ,.
It will also discommode any amount of wild life.,
living in and around, said stricken tree .

Depends if you talked to the trees as no one would listen to you.
Tree people would hear a noise. No One wouldn't.
