No. A blunderbuss was a usually used at relatively close range (under 50 yards). A T/C Contender is accurate out to 500 yards and ,in the right hands, beyond. Contenders and their stronger brother the Encore, can be chambered for almost any caliber from .22 LR to .45-70. The comparison really can't be made as their uses are very different.

The T/C Contender is a single shot hand gun. I might add that it is one of the best.
