Petite means short. you can be petite and large or petite and small. There used to be only one size of petite, small, short people but the industry now recognizes and makes clothing for the larger petite women in the world. We aren't all 110 lbs. So, it just means shorter arms, legs and waist, things like that, the cut is different.

It depends on the brand. I a;ways heard it was for people 5'3 and under. However, I am 5'4 and often petite will be the better length for me. The regular length is too long for me at times. I think I'm sort of on the border. It' more than just for pants though. There will be some stores that carry a line for people with petite bodies as far as the tops go. There is also petite for those that are "above average" (plus sizes).
It means shorter than the "average" women. In some cases it means that the person has a smaller body frame.

Petite means small, basically. But the only time I know "petite" can fit nicely into a sentence is when something is said kida like this: "I like petite women."

Generally speaking, petite just means small. A petite women would be short and small framed.
But in fashion, it means clothes made for women under about 5ft4 and they range from very small sizes to the larger sizes.

petite literally means compact in french
the term petite in case of clothing or body type is used for someone, usually women who is five feet 3 and under.. with propotionately narrower shoulders , waist and hips and legs ( bone size not the amount of body fat) ..
as compared to women over five feet 3 inches
petite is also used to decribe any other thing or object .. to state that it is compact or small

When it comes to women's fashions, it means 5'2" and under. Petite clothes are made with shorter arm, leg and torso lengths. Believe it or not, petite fashions come in sizes from 0-12, which means they're related to proportion and not weight. ;)

Small, if someone called you petite don't let it get to you in fact I think the word sounds kinda cool. It could be a compliment if you let it. Hope this helps!
