Sniper Rifle. Stay a good distance away, cows are very paranoid, and if they think they're in danger, you're going to get hurt.

Well, first you have to go to someplace where there are wild cows. If the cows are in an area where there are a lot of woods, look in the woods. Cows like woods. If you are hunting in an area such as the western stattes where there are not as many woods, just look for cow sign and hunt those areas. Wild cows are not hard to hunt but they can be dangerous. Don't make the mistaken assumption that they are the docile animals that you see down on the farm. Once you find them, you can photograph them, look at them or shoot them. No license is required since they are not considered to be game animals.

First try to locate the owner. Cow are valuable farm animals so don't destroy it if you absolutely don't have to. If that fails, notify the authorities so it doesn't get out on the roadway and causes an accident. Remember, cows can be dangerous especially if they are maverick animals not used to human presence.
If it must be destroyed, I would probably try the old .45-70 buffalo gun. I knew some old cowboys who could get close enough to a maverick cow to pop it between the eyes or at the base of the horns (from behind) with a .22 LR, but unless you are a sure-shot I wouldn't even try that. The .45-70 worked on the bigger, heavier bone American Bison. It should work fine on cows.
Best,
H

A 12 gauge slug gun worked on a cow that had gotten out several times before and could not be caught again. I just happened to be hunting deer on the farmers land and was requested by him to dispatch her if I had a chance. Break of day wouldn't you know it! I was close and was able to shoot her in the head so as not to destroy any meat.

Best way I know of to catch a wild cow is to go to the local country bar, here, in town. There is always a pretty good sized herd roaming around, and all you need to do is be there at closing time.

First off you have to find a wild cow and I have no idea where those are anymore, one may have scaped but it probably isn't wild. Maybe if you go to Afrika you can find a water Buffalo cow type thing. I recomend waiting until it is asleep, then sneak up on it and shoot it in the face with a 4 guage shotgun....be ready for some sprayback.

Well I have gone to some bars and I saw some big cows looking at me. I did not have to hunt them, though I did try to get invisible. The cows were hunting me, then. lol
