Merhaba - I loved my trip to Turkey and here are some of the stuff I really liked for souvenirs.
Chess sets - Really cool engraved ones you can find at the grand bazaar.
Jewelry- This was a great cheap gift for nieces, etc, because they have a lot of beaded bracelets, necklaces, ect.
Pottery - I bought a lot of coasters, small figurines, and candle holders.
Scarves- Definitely get scarves. You can find them really cheap in the bazaar. Always ask for a discount if you buy more than one. They are sooo pretty there.
Small trinkets - Look for cool engraved stuff like small mirrors, notepad holders, cigarette lighters, and business card holders.
Textiles - Pillowcases with beads, purses, wallets, blankets, throws, tablecloths, all beautiful.
I also brought back stuff like apple tea (You'll see this everywhere- be sure to try it!), Turkish delight, spice sets, and Turkish Doritos(Try these too. Very good!)
Be sure to look around. There are a lot of unique shops with stuff you won't find in the bazaar.
If shopping in the bazaar always ask for discount - they love to haggle.
Above all - Have a great time!

The standard thing you buy in that part of the world is
rugs - there's a lot of crap on the streets, but you can also
get the finest deals in the world if you know what you are
looking for.
If you're not up on rugs, there's still enough variety there where
you can find something you find appealing and perhaps not
pay bottom dollar, but still feel good about it.
Check out the market - beware that they have lots of people
that will tell you something is one-of-a-kind and you'll find
200 of them in the next stall over.
I bought an antique spinner (for spinning wool) - I'm pretty
sure that it is one of a kind, as it is worn to within an inch
of usability by probably decades of spinners - but that has
more sentimental value than resale value.
Stay away from the Burger King there - I had no problems with
the food until I tried Istanbul's Burger King's chocolate
shake!

Turkey has a very rich culture and there are numerous souverniers available.. I would advise:
~Aladdin Lamps
~the money (the currency is very pretty, also 1million lira equals about 75 cents so it can be nice to trick people)
~rugs/carpets (at the airport you can get mini carpets that are very cute)
~textiles (lace, embroidery, robes, the head scarves are very colorful and beautiful also, robes)
~stamps
~jewelry
~evil eyes
~cards (or even pictures of places such as the inside of the blue mosque)
Just shop around! I'm sure you'll find something great! I'd especially look in the bazaar (pazar in Turkish) and if your traveling by air, the airport has a lot of souveneir shops! Hope this helps and good luck!

Carpets, leather goods, metal work, calligraphy, ceramics, Ottoman miniatures, fake Lacoste etc etc
There are lots of things to tempt you. If you go to the Grand Bazaar in Istanbul be sure to bargain - start at half price and expect to settle for two thirds.
