I have a bump kind of around and to the side of the top of my belly button piercing. It's red and about the size of the top of my belly button ring. It's sensitive and stings somewhat, when I clean it too. What might this be and how can I treat it? Should I see my piercer or a doctor, which one would know what to do?

That's there to stay. It's the scar tissue that formed. When you had it pierced, the skin was pushed out from where it had been. It's normal-- look at other people's.

It isn't just scar tissue if it stings somewhat and is sensitive. It sounds like the bump is caused by some dirt getting into the area... it is probable that it is infected as well... so I suggest that you see a doctor and perhaps he/she can prescribe some sort of creme that'll help it. For the time being, just clean it well; Hydrogen Peroxide works well in that regard.
You should soak a cotton ball in Hydrogen Peroxide, and place in that area and leave it there for several minutes; it's generally very good for treating any types of infections in wounds, etc.

Good luck...

Could be an infection. See a doctor ASAP if you get a fever. Otherwise, see a doctor if its still there after a couple of days or if it grows bigger.
