Yes I feel the same, but when I think about it I know that religion doesn't split communities or any other abstract thing like tribalism.

It's people that split communities. People who want power or want their voice heard instead of someone else's. It's just a darn shame that that sort of person seems to get attracted to religion or politics,

About 20 years ago I had two rather talented Islamic sisters who played in my band, one was especially good and only about 10. The band went on to play in Italy, the USA , USSR . . they were good. Anyway I took the father aside and reminded him that Christmas was coming up and we would be playing in churches etc. Did he mind? He was a bus driver and said that I had a Good Soul and as long as they were with me he didn't mind. He then gave me a gentle lecture on the fact that there were as many different types of Moslem as there were Christians and that people could be blind and offensive whatever they said they believed in.

Yup.

I do agree, but it seems that most of the rest of the world and or communtiy does not, sadly.

If we could ALL just talk, then I think that we would see that we ALL want to same thing. Peace, no more fighting over something as stupid as the colour of our skin or the religion we follow, I truly believe that religion will die out - because this generation is sick and tired of the war it causes!

You must remember that "Religion" and Faith in Jesus Christ are two different things. Religion is a man made creation. And since all men are sinful, our sinful nature will find it's way into all religions.

That's why it's YOUR job, as a Christian (if you are one), to read the word daily to know what God really wants and to help guide your church.

In the book of Revelation, the Apostle John wrote 7 letters to 7 church's that were in operation at that time. That would have been 50 - 70 years after Jesus's death. In just those few years, each of the churches has some aspect of their worship that John needed to correct.

Remember, when men are involved, things will get screwed up. But don't hold that against God. God gave you his word and it's up to you to read it and understand it.

What community has been split apart by religion? Politics, race, illiteracy, gangs, lack of education, poverty and lack of faith hurt communities more than religion ever has.

God Bless you and may you have a safe and Happy New Year.

yes. im muslim and agree. i used to live in an area whwre there were white families. loads and loads of them, but now, there arent many here. Its unhealthy for the generations and community. well for the whole country. i and many other muslims believe this and want our children to know the differences between religions and colours societies. its a shame. hope we all understand each other rather than critisise and abuse.

I would love to see all people getting along, without barriers.
Not religion or race. If the Promises are to be fulfilled then we must live by the simplest of rules. Unfortunately people refuse to follow the simplest of rules.

Oh I'm sure we could, but that would be asking people to think of something more than their own concepts of "self" and to let go of the notion, mostly mistaken, that their way and ONLY their way is the "right way". Until this pattern of thought is subdued in ALL or most minds, it's not going to stop.

I agree, if there is any worthwhile-ness in religion let it be seen - plainly simply, and in power.

And if there is any harshness, cruelness, injustice, falseness, intolerance, divisiveness, prejudice, coldness may that be seen too.

Truth is the sharpest sword to cut the heart. And better a heart cut up by it, than one that does'nt let it near.

Religion rarely splits communities. Communities are usually split by tribal tensions and rival tribes adopt different religions. All of the world's main religions teach peace and reconciliation. It's tribalism that uses religion as an excuse for violence.

Religion has done more to unite communities than 'atheism' ever has.

Even most atheists would have to admit to that.
