I have observed that many people these days ask questions not to gain knowlage or understanding but instead to look for someone to confirm thier beliefs for them. Is this an accurate assement and if so/not why? Thank you for your thoughts.

That is true... but answers also help people re-assess their beliefs. Being influenced by other can't be helped... plus, anyone looking for answers do not find their beliefs adequate in the first place..

I am not sure that it is to confirm beliefs as much as it is to get people to think and maybe question their beliefs. If no one ever questions their beliefs, how would one know if they were really true or not?...

Acts 17:11: "Now the latter were more noble-minded than those in Thes·sa·lo·ni´ca, for they received the word with the greatest eagerness of mind, carefully examining the Scriptures daily as to whether these things were so."

1 John 4:1: "Beloved ones, do not believe every inspired expression, but test the inspired expressions to see whether they originate with God, because many false prophets have gone forth into the world."

most the time i ask a question if i am not sure about what is meant. like why does Jesus say baptize in the name of the father, and of the son, and of the holy ghost. but then in acts the apostles preached to be baptized in Jesus name. some say both are correct and it does not matter. some say well when it says in the name the name is singular meaning there is one name and the name of the father son and holy ghost is Jesus. when Jesus said this it was a command. by saying the exact words Jesus used we are not doing his command. we are coping what he said. like if i said can you get me that book please. if you said can you get me that book please you did not do what i said to you just repeated my command. however if you got it now you did what i said. the other thing i ask questions is like with mormons. i have a buddy i work with so we have been sharing what we both believe in. this way i dont just assume mormons believe this or do that i know. so i ask questions on things that i have heard but want to comfirm it or get told other wise. on the other hand he would ask me questions already knowing the answere just to test me and see how well i know my belief. and i think that when you do ask a question even if it is to comfirm your belief you are still gaining knowlege and a better understanding of the Word

I'm sure sometimes it is. The human urge to "fit in" or make yourself think you're not "nuts" by mutual agreement is satisfying to some people. It doesn't work for me though, I've got too prying of a logical brain which questions the answers.

In general I would say many people do what is easy, so you may be right. But there are people who question to find the truth.

How unhappy! My reaction could be to first take a deep breath and ask the Lord to grant me the words....then i could ask my important different questions and unquestionably hear to what he had to assert. i think of i could attempt to make the effort before responding and proceed to stay my faith. i think of in some unspecified time sooner or later i could remind him of all the Lord has finished for us....i could proceed to wish that the Lord make Himself ordinary to my husband.

The bible can be complicated and confusing. Sometimes we need guidance. We depend on the Holy Spirit to ensure that what we are taught is true.

Yes, They are now bating people. They are not asking questions out of curiosity they are asking out of spite.
