Catholics, which is how I was raised, do believe that there are degrees of sin. Two degrees at least - mortal and venal. Mortal includes really bad things like murder; venal includes things like cheating on a test or stealing.

FYI.

According to those standards, I won't say what my biggest sin was!

According to the other generic christian standards, I guess my biggest sin would be (considered by them) being an atheist.

It was a sin of ommision; I couldn't save the world, all by my self. I felt so inadequate, until I met a guy who was trying to save the universe! I wished him good luck with that, and went out looking for that guy on a donkey...don something...

all sins are equal in the eyes of God...but if you want to know the sin *I* felt was the biggest, I'd say the sin of not honoring my parents...I used to swear at and beat up my mom. :(

My biggest sin was probably not believing I was a sinner.

There is no degree of sin...one sin worse than another. All sin is objectionable to God. He hates sin, all sin....but loves the sinner, so much that He sent Jesus to die for all of our sin. The Bible tells us that we are all born in sin... in sin our mothers conceived us. We cannot escape it without someone who can apporach a holy God on our behalf. That's Why Jesus came... the only perfect One... who can go to God for us...His blood cleansing us from all sin...great and small.
