That is terrible. I leave my dog's crate open and he likes to go there and sleep. You should housebreak your dog. And if you leave her alone in your house make sure there's nothing in the floor or somewhere in her reach that she can chew.
Or when you leave her put a shirt that you already worn inside his crate so she won't have separation anxiety, and she can smell you with that shirt. try leaving her out of her crate when your gone for a short time, and you'll see she won't chew anything.
Dog normally just sleep when you leave them alone in your house.Just don't leave her alone for a long time just maybe 5 max. if you leave her for more than that then just leave her somewhere like in a daycare, or your friends or relatives.
And at night put her in your room with her crate door open and she will sleep there,.Dog's like to sleep in a dark and small space they feel safer on it.

Sounds like you don't have time in your life for her. She is not trained to know better of the things she is doing. If you don't have the time to train her then you should maybe find her another home.
A well trained dog is a joy to own. But, it takes an effort and you don't seem to be able to provide the time that the effort requires.
When you say 'kennel', two things come to mind. Indoor or outdoor? Another biggie is how big of dog are we talking about, a little Chi..Chi or a German Sheppard, Great Dane? And are You being a good dog owner? And being true to yourself and your dog is your life style ready to accept a pet? It requires responsibility, are you up to it?

You might want to rethink having a dog if she's in the crate most of the time.
She needs consistent training. Crate training her is the way to go with peeing, make sure it is small enough for her to turn around in. Let her out when you get home, praise her like she won an Oscar after she pees outside. DO NOT put her nose in the pee, she won't train that way. Link to crate training is below.
IF you do leave her out, leave her LOTS of toys! Get a kong and fill it with peanut butter, most dogs love that toy.
What kind of dog is she? How long is "a long time"? How big is her crate?
You could also try to find a dog walker in the area, who can let her out during lunch time (or if you are close enough to home, go there during lunchtime and let her out).

Well if the dog is a puppy then she should enjoy being in a crate or kennel. Dogs want to be a part of the action so make sure that you potty train her that way when you just want to play with her or something that she won't poop or pee.

Don't. A puppy or dog can't stay in its kennel for no longer than 6 hours. If you let her out before that, play with it for a long time. If you don't come within 6 hours, try making her a playpen with many toys and a nice long place to run. Also, cover the playpen with many layers of newspaper. Don't make the playpen to close to the furniture though.
