Perhaps you scared it out of her? seriously, she might well have been mentally ill or just going a little 'off her rocker' with an illness she'd developed that you probably knew nothing about.
If she had been a good grandma to you before that - accept that she had been a good grandma and go to the funeral. If she had always been a horrible old witch - no excuses you could make for her, then don't go.
