i have very dark bow hair with a hint of red.

i want all my hair RED but i want BLUE tips on the end (about 1-2 inches)...

If you are using semi-perm on temp hair dyes personally I would bleach entire head to a lemon/yellow colour (the lighter then better but be careful as the yellow to white phgase of bleaching is when the most damage can be done and you can end up over-bleaching) - I'd then put vaseline or baby oil on sections of hair i DONT want coloured red (these are both hard to rinse off but normally do a good job of stopping dyes sticking to the hair - conditioner is easier to rinse off but also can stop dye sticking to hair). After dyeing with red and rinsing I would apply blue dye to ends only and dye them. I would not apply one colour over the other as red and blue dye can often end in a purple or other weird colour (sometimes even brown depending on colours used) - You can dye all at the same time - but its tricky to keep the dyes seperate if its the ends you want dyed (easier if your hair is all one length, but if you have layers etc it can be tricky). Remember that if using veggie dyes the colours can ren/bleed during first few washes and you may find that some of the blue runs into the red or vice verse and you could end up with red hair, slight purplish layer and then blue tips. Not trying to put you off as loads of people do have several different colours in their hair, me included, but you should take care and leave aside lots of time for re-dyeing etc.

If you have dark brown hair, bleaching it will turn it orange, so when the red and blue wash out, your hair will still be orange, because the bleach takes a REALLY long time to wash out. Go to a stylist just to talk about how else you can keep the red and blue from fading without using bleach.
