Land mines? NOOOOO!! - Good idea but too many little pieces to clean up.
Personally, I prefer to flatten them using a the roller they use on grass (like the one they use for cricket pitches)

i know how you feel. i have the same problem. i want to poison the little bassterds, but my old man wont let me. they keep getting in the trash and pisssing in my flower beds. killing my plants. the wacko heifer has like 30 damn cats.
