I'm totally respectful and thoughtful of others and their right to a work environment free of conflict. I have however, when asked for an opinion prefaced that "I realize this isn't politically correct to talk about, but...." and then share with them how God has directed my life through some of the same obstacles.
As a believer, I would be remiss as a loving, caring human being to not share the truth so others can find the same peace that finding faith will produce. It is an obligation to make the path better for others, especially when it is put on your heart to do so.

I usually dont have a problem. Im agnostic and work with muslims, hindus, christians and jews. All of the people i work with have known each other for years and seem to respect each others points of religion which i think is great.
They will discuss their own personal beliefs and whatnot if someone asks them, but i think its asked more out of curiosity than because of debating reasons.
So no, there is no taboo about religion. But there is about politics lol. I make sure i leave the room when that subject comes up lol.

It's rarely come up during conversation in the workplace. Matter of fact, I can't remember it ever coming up. Not that it's taboo. It's just not a subject that's likely to come up in a typical office setting unless you work for a religious organization.
I think most people keep work and religion separated, like church and state.

Religion - or religious discussion - doesn't belong in the workplace. And that's truer for some workplaces than for others, but really is true for all. Except maybe churches.....but perhaps it's not a good idea there either.
It's not taboo because it's tacky, it's taboo because it can lead to discrimination.

Hmm, the office i'm not sure, i've a very unique relationship with my coworkers and my boss. Why not ten minutes ago, i was just explaining the historical truths about christian and pagan holidays to a co worker. But ya it is pretty taboo.

It is not taboo
It is the smart thing not to do
talk about religion any where unless it is with
religious people of the same faith.
Religion/marriage/sex and politics should not be
discussed with outsiders who don't believe the same as the
group involved.

I think it can be appropriate to discuss it (not debate it) so people can learn and ask about different people's beliefs and why they believe that. I would say politics is a NO at work as well as sex, but religion is okay, IF it is done in a question/answer/discussion manner and a debate.

I work for a company that will only hire Christians because we sell a Christan based financial curriculum.
We discuss religion all the time and still cant manage to 100% agree on things.
It's actually pretty sad :(

Open for discussion, the person who originally hired everyone here had an amazing intuition about people and assembled some of the best people I have ever worked with, many very spiritual people who are open to discussion and accept everyone unconditionally. Pity I got here too late to meet the genius who hired all these lovely people...

Depends on how close you are to them and the level of professionalism in your company. If you're working for a prestigious company and you're not close to your coworkers then say nothing.
Typically, there's nothing wrong with having an open conversation with people about religion at work just make sure you're not pushing your opinions on them, it can hurt your work relationship. This happened to me once while I was at work. I consider myself to be a pretty open minded Christian and this woman told me that I needed to find Jesus again because I was obviously not a good enough Chrisitian. It was really innappropriate and frankly, it really pissed me off. So just be careful what you say to maintain a good work realtionship.
