Because if they accepted other religions, why would theirs be "better"?
This is a basic flaw with nearly all religions and is based on the need to control the religion's believers. All the major religions say basicaly the same 2 things:
1) Don't do aything you wouldn't want done to you
2) We are the only ones who are right.
The first point makes perfect snece and id sound advise regardless of your religious affiliation.
The second point is so the hierarchy of the religion can maintain control over it's members. If all religions were respected and accepted, why would anyone stay with the one they were brought up in.
This proble is seem to an extreme in the Fundamentalist sects of Judaesim, Christianity and Islam. These people simply stop thining for themselves and depend on a book to answer everything for them. This book that contains all anyone needs to know about anything is the only one that matters and all others are to be rejected.
This form of religion is a danger to everyone since it breeds intolerance and rewards ignorance.

I struggle to understand this myself. Or why people ask if I believe in God (while suspiciously eyeballing my Thor's Hammer) but don't ask me WHICH Gods or Goddesses I believe in.
Honestly, I think it's lack of understanding. They can't wrap their heads around *how* I, or any other polytheist, could worship many Gods and Goddesses but not worship theirs! They fail to differentiate between 'acceptance' and 'worship'. Many monotheists don't seem to grasp this very simple concept. Let's try and help them, shall we?
As an Asatruar, I accept all Gods and Goddesses as either valid or potentially valid. However, I have retained the old heathen concept of "You keep your Gods and I'll keep mine".
I'm a Swedish/German hybrid. It makes NO SENSE for me to worship a middle eastern god. I will not betray the Gods and Goddesses who nurtured my ancestors and my kin and who nurture me to this day. Does that make the middle eastern gods any less valid? I would hope not, or they're following a non-entity.
I also don't expect every pasty white Scandinavian or German to convert to Asatru. They've chosen a path different from mine, and unless they try to harm me over it, I have to respect that path as real and valid. It's their path, not mine.
Simple, no?
Queen Sigrith of Sweden was a wonderful example of this attitude, and is still a role model for many Asatru women. We're all taught about her from an early age (unless they're a convert to Asatru). She's my personal hero, actually!

Heres the low down - a mono thesist religeon states - there is one god above all things. everything is thus below him. some things are closer to him than others. thus is the heirarchy born. So you have the PERFECT social control - and thats all monothesitic religeon is a method of control. Also - because it claims one god and only one god - they invest him with no flaws and more power than any other - so all the polythesits must have.. weak gods who are thus below thier GOD.... thats really why it is hard for them to accept anything that levels god out , or challenges the idea that he is the top of the line most supreme.
Please note - Religeon is seperate and distinct from Spirituality.

It is pure brainwash. The trinity was not thought up till the Nicene Council, 300 years after Jesus. They made up alot of things to throw into Christianity.
Anyone who says that Jesus is G-d, is showing idolatry. That is just my opinion. There is no G-d but G-d. G-d is One-not a trinity.

Because the first rule in monotheistic religions is : All other religions are false, and if they're not with us they're against us.
It doesn't tend to promote open-mindedness and tolerance, as a rule

I respect everyone's right to their opinion regarding their soul , salvation and diety/dieties they follow. I simply do not follow any of them other than my personal belief. After all, how do any of us know we are 100% right when so many religions have many of the same tenets?

Not all Christians are close minded. However, I do believe pagans often place unnecessary emphasis on having things done their way. Morality is the key.

They typically make up a lot of rules and dogma and one of the central ones is always to devote oneself blindly to that one god and put no other before him (it's usually a him)

Christians believe the Bible to be the absolute truth, so why would we accept it???
But since that's probably not the answer you want, I'll say,
"Because the Christians are BIGOTS!!!!!!!!!"
Which one suits you better? A or B?
