i grew up with a white picture of Jesus in my house and in my church and many other churches i attended.I had no problem with it but when i started to see black pictures of Jesus i felt like if i bought a picture of Jesus being black that white people will render me a racist.why? imagine every picture of Jesus in america being changed from white to black.there will be no white people becoming christians. if white people have a problem with a black Jesus being inside there house or church then blacks should have a problem with a white Jesus in there house and in there church. you will never see hollywood make a movie with a black Jesus.why?i have no problem with the spiritual content of the christian movies but every christian movie i got in my possesion has 99.9% of the characters being played as white people.why? is there nobody black who wants to play these roles.its because whites prefer themselves and the movie want get any high readings like the passion of the christ did.why?

Color makes a big difference when it comes to control of minds, bodies and spirits. That's why whites (no disrespect intended) are offended at the image of a Black Jesus.

The white coloration of Jesus has been used to oppress the mind of many peoples for many centuries. Not just people of color, but also whites.

Let's not even dispute this issue for in the Bible He's described:
"His head and his hairs were white like wool, as white as snow; and his eyes were as a flame of fire; And his feet like unto fine brass, as if they burned in a furnace; and his voice as the sound of many waters." (Rev. 1:14 and 1:15)

"His body also was like the beryl, and his face as the appearance of lightning, and his eyes as lamps of fire, and his arms and his feet like in colour to polished brass, and the voice of his words like the voice of a multitude." (Daniel 10:6)

Jesus is the son of GOD and GOD is the Father of mankind.

It has been proven scientifically more than once that mankind started in Africa.

At the end of the rainbow, it will not matter what color He is, what will matter is what we as individuals have done on this earth, no matter what color we are.

I've read that Jesus (pbuh) most probably looked middle-eastern. There's not much chance he was white. But since he has been represented like that for so many years in the United States, people have a hard time changing that image. Even now, with more historical knowledge about him, he is still usually represented in the same way. Everyone has their own image of him but in the end his message is the same isn't it? I dont think it matters whether you imagine him to be white black or anything else.

You would have a hard time convincing the world that Jesus was a black Jew. Jew's were not black. Jews have a slight tan to their complexion. I am sure that Jesus was just like the rest of the Jews, since he came from the womb of a Jewish woman.

I have no problem with black people buying pictures and Bibles that depict Jesus as a black man.

I have talked to people of black skin who are convinced that the Pharoahs were black, but their own history does not back that up.
Do you really think that Seti and Ramesees and King Tut were black?
They have toured the world with King Tut's coffin, and it has a likeness of him on the coffin. That likeness was not black. Why not?

Basically, it should not matter. The importance of Jesus was his divinity, not the color of his skin or look of his face.

People should remove emotion from this issue, and rather look at facts. Was Jesus a sun-saharan "black"? Of course not. Was he blatantly Nordic looking? Of couse not. Anthropologist seem to reach consensus on the tenet that Jesus was simply a semite. This is a caucasioid group (Granted, this does NOT mean "white"; Indians are caucasians and can be darker than many sub-saharan Africans). I have read studies which measured mitochondial DNA markers amoung old graves and modern residents of the area, and they have found much genetic continuity. Just look at groups of Jews who have remained relitively isolated.

Check out my source. Nobody knows, not even "experts"! Jesus should be discussed for the importance and implications of his life and death (historical and spiritual) and emotion should be subjugated when dealing with touchy race issues. Let's not demean the holy by forcing our notions of race, when many clearly beleive his "race" transcended the physical world; his color should not make adifference, if not only for the fact that if it even did, we would be endlessly debating it.

It's hot out where Jesus lived..surely he'd have olive to very dark skin anyway.Or do you mean Jesus was more of an African looking guy?...I guess in this day and age it should matter less what he looked like and people should concentrate on what he said....I'm not a religeous person but even i get what he was saying....be nice to others and if everyone did that then the world would be a better place.

Interesting observation.... And a great idea!!! We should change every picture in America to that of a Black Jesus. That would at least stop the racists in the South from picking up that hateful, intolerant mind virus!

It does not matter what color Jesus was. What matters is that He came to earth as a baby, grew up as an ordinary person, and then died on a cross for the sins of the whole world as it was, the way it is today, and the way it will be in the future.

You have it all wrong. Since no one knows exactly what Jesus looks like, we as a society tend to depict him as what we are used to seeing. So in America (a generally white nation) we show him as being a white, caucasian..whereas in Asia they may have pictures of him looking asian, and in Africa, darker skinned. I actually saw some real pictures of other country's depictions of Jesus, and it's quite interesting. Everyone should realize that Jesus was most likely darker skinned and had dark hair because he was from the Isreal area.

The color of his skin shouldn't make a difference to anyone - if you are less likely to listen to his wisdom because his skin is a different color from yours, then you are missing the whole point. What does it matter if he was a different race, religion, gender, hairstyle, language, nationality, height, etc from you? Does that make his message any less important?
Of course not. And there's no way we can know 100% for sure what he looked like. But people like to see what is familar to them, and it can make it easier to get a message across. So people who like white faces watch movies with white faces... people who like black faces watch movies with black faces... people who are used to faces of all different colors watch movies with faces of all different colors....
So go ahead and enjoy your picture of a white Jesus, if that's what makes you happy and brings you closer to heaven. And let black people celebrate their picture of a black Jesus, and let everyone see what they want to see, and acknowledge that no one knows for sure, and that's okay.

Jesus wasnt white and He wants black either.... the traditional pictures of Jesus we see, brown hair, light skin, blue eyes.. typical of an anglosaxon which He wasnt... and then the blacks decide they want a black Jesus and make one that looks like an African, which He wasnt either. Jesus was from Isreal and looked like it.
