I had multiple speeding tickets when I was 16-19, and I was still able to get a job in law enforcement. I'm a probation officer, and not a police officer, but I'd bet that you'd still be able to be hired if you meet all other requirements.

It all depends on how worried the department is about liability. Many police departments (and other occupations that require a lot of driving in a company vehicle) want to see a 'clean' driving record. Otherwise the cost of their liability insurance goes way up.

it will show for 7 years on your record-- since you were a minor at the time it occured-- this may be considered during employment so long as it wasnt a felony-- a careless driving in oregon is a class a misdeamenor-- dont get convicted of any more crimes and you got a good chance of being hired-- to serve and protect-- that is your duty

One or two moving violations shouldn't affect your chances significantly. Just make sure you report it on your application or you may be disqualified for lying on your application.
