Yes. That's one of the reasons I rejected Christianity--a "god" that sends people to be tortured for all eternity is not worthy of anyone's worship.

sure. i've got been speaking lots approximately this subject recently. here is the logic i've got been using: Forgiveness is a cornerstone of Christian philosophy and teachings. isn't banishing someone to hell for eternity (ETERNITY) a suited occasion of the antithesis of forgiveness? Does that no longer place God interior the placement of no longer working in the direction of what he preaches? (a.ok.a. a hypocrite) No God could behave in one in each of those way. as a result the two Christianity has the God incorrect or the assumption-approximately Hell incorrect (consistent with danger even the two!). Do be conscious however, there are 2 Gods interior the Bible. there is God (who i think of is the authentic god) and there is Lord God (who i think of is devil in hide) some suggestions are on the web content under...

Of course it is. I can think of nothing more evil. If god was loving, he could simply snap you out of existence, or put you in study hall. According to the OT, you could get put in Hell for swearing at your father. Think about it. Ripping, boiling horrendous screaming torture for trillions of years for telling your dad off. No chance of parole. That is not love or justice - it is evil. No way you can rationalize it. [That punishement is too harsh even for Hitler. No amount of sin can warrant that punishment.]

You can say it all part of god's plan but he could easily have created a plan where that was not necessary. He created everything. He likes people to be in Hell. If he did not, they would not be there. He is in control. He makes the rules. He says what happens if you sin. He can change the rules.

Fundys are asking us to believe that god created a sinner, knowing that he would choose to sin (freely or not) and then punishes him forwever for it. That is sick. He could have just not created that man. He could have changed the definition of sin. God does not need a "plan". He can make everything happen instantly. The situation is the way it is because god WANTS it that way.

We all have a lifetime to accept Jesus, and waiting until you can see for yourself goes directly against the idea of faith. We walk by faith, not by sight.
I became a child of God not because of the threat of hell, but because I was repentant for offending a Holy God.
Hell isn't a threat, it's the result of a lifetime of rejecting God.
Some of the posts above say "a loving God wouldn't send me to an eternal hell for one sin", or something to that effect. Who can say they've only sinned once, or that their worst sin was a lie?
Every one of us sins all day, every day.

It certainly would be if it were true, however, you can rest assured that it isn't. God would not creat someone, just to torture them for eternity. God is Love.

Jeremiah 7:30 & 31: "For the sons of Judah have done what is bad in my eyes,’ is the utterance of Jehovah. ‘They have set their disgusting things in the house upon which my name has been called, in order to defile it. 31 And they have built the high places of To´pheth, which is in the valley of the son of Hin´nom, in order to burn their sons and their daughters in the fire, a thing that I had not commanded and that had not come up into my heart.’

Well...fear-mongering is a great way to get people to adopt your beliefs, and it works as well on the primitive, peaceful, and trusting society as it does on the contentious, combative society. Excellent tactic for any religious leader to use.

Yep. Not all religions threaten/harass non-believers with eternal damnation. Many do not have a duality in the afterlife, and some don't have an afterlife at all.
