I plugged the vga in my laptop and the hdmi in the tv. When i set my tv on hdmi it said it has no signal. I don't know why it's not working, can someone please help me by walking me through the steps.

There is no such thing as a VGA to HDMI cable. VGA is analog and HDMI is digital. In order to convert, you need box that will convert analog to digital. A VGA to HDMI converter boxes cost around $200. If you actually bought a cable, I think you got scammed.

Sorry to tell you but VGA to HDMI may never work.
VGA is analog
Your TV may only support digital signals over HDMI.

So, Digital-DVI to HDMI will work
Analog VGA to HDMI may not work
Check your TV's manual to see what inputs are supported over HDMI.

It don't work I bought one on eBay good thing it was only four dollars it didn't work. Just get an hdmi to hdmi one it'll work.
