The bigger the better. I personally am not a fan of small dogs. I love big block headed 200 pound couch potatoes.

They're great big loveable teddy bear gentle giant dogs. I'd love to see one as a therapy dog, though it might frighten small children. Even gentle dogs can accidentally knock over a small child or an infirm older person, so please be careful.

I knew a couple once who had a Newfie and a Great Pyrenees. They looked like a giant set of salt and pepper shakers!

Newfies are a wonderful breed. VERY friendly and gentle with children too. They do have one downside. They tend to only live about 8-9 years.... That stinks.

They are awesome dogs. I don't own one myself but I have an Aunt who has 2. They tend to have bad hips so make sure your vet keeps an eye out for that! All big dogs have a hip problem concerns. I had two Shepherds that had bad hips!

My friend Kyle has one, I used to be terrified of him but he's like a giant teddy bear lol, you can wrestle with him and he never gets violent. I prefer smaller dogs but Newfoundlands deff. get a thumbs up =]
