I am mid-age guy. Auto ran me down badly. It caused a massive heart attack in all segments of my heart. Now I have severe congestive heart failure. I tried Rx diuretics, the strongest, no success yet. CArdiologist says no remedies to revitalize dead heart muscle. I don't want a heart transplant. I refuse to go back to hospital. My ejection fraction is +50%.
If my heart muscle so damaged forever, then people like me, can they ever overcome the fluid retention?? My right leg oozes from a spot on skin, streams of clear water from inside my body, DRENCHING my clothes 24/7. I have little water to urinate, since it's spilling out my leg day & night. I gasp with angina if climb stairs or exertion. Does anyone know cases like me who improved & live semi-normally after the huge attack? Doctors have no magic wand to cure me - no specific remedies. I'm losing all hope for my life. Cardiologists have no special cures for me, they say this is my fate.

If the cause of the CHF is due to a heart attack when run down by an automobile, there is not much a physician or Cardiologist can do. The heart has been damaged and unfortunately you can't stop it to rest it. I hope the person had good coverage to pay for your hospitalization.

I, too, suffer from edema and take lasix with potassium to help with the swelling.

CHF causes a lot of urination, so I suspect the accident did more damage than first expected.

If the medical world cannot help, try alternative medicine, like acupuncture (dunno how it works, but it has helped me and I am still a bit of an unbeliever even though it has helped) Reiki healing (it is called energy healing). Does your church offer laying on of hands?

There are plenty of sites on the Internet discussing CHF and thousands of others dealing with alternative medicine. So let your fingers do the typing and see what you can do for yourself. Good luck and I hope these suggestions help.

I have heard of surgeries performed where damaged heart muscle was removed and the healthy tissues joined, making the heart smaller and a more effective pump, not sure if this would be of help to you but you might look into it. As for your fluid balance problems, that is a very difficult balance to achieve, suggest a nutritionist might give you some good suggestions. I limit my fluid intake to 1 liter a day to prevent fluid overload. I exercise to tolerance, and I wear compression stockings to keep the edema to a minimum. Good luck to you.

I am sorry, don't know about your condition, but i think the doctors should help you more, with better ideas how to treat your syntoms, please do not lose hope, should always be hope, i hope you have the support of immediate family, maybe find out from the hospital if there are groups with the same problem that have meetings and help each other as how they are coping.

i'm praying for you mister. i think you should pray to god to help you. my dad suffers from paralysis from the waist down and no doctor can tell him why. he prays daily and now his health is improving by the slightest bit. he still cant walk but his attitude is improving. pray for yourself, do good deeds...it will pay off. you might even want to try alternative medicine, like chinese herbs or something. they work magically and no one really knows the reasons why. best of luck to you, and dont lose hope!
