I'm sure you could find some websites for what you are looking for, but by the time you paid shipping and freight, I'm afraid your bargains might be a bit pricey.
The best thing is to shop yard sales, thrift stores, consignment shops, used furniture stores, etc. You'd be surprised at what some patience and diligent searching can turn up.
Go for basic pieces (they don't have to "match") and jazz up your rooms with good-looking accessories. Look for neutral colors and classic styles in upholstered pieces.
If you prefer new items, consider this: Do you have a Big Lots store in your area that sells furniture? Some of what they have is nice looking, including accessories. Start out with just a few basics and add from your thrift stores and Goodwill, etc.
Pier One and some of the other import stores usually have some handsome wicker pieces at affordable prices. It's a matter of looking and looking...and not giving up!
Check out some "budget decorating" websites and books for ideas and inspiration. Don't be discouraged - it can be done, and done beautifully!

Try Craiglist. Just look for a city nearest to you and you can find individuals on there who offer some pretty good deals on all sorts of stuff including furniture. You can also try Kijiji. This is just like Craiglist, but you will need to change the City & State search field to fit one that is closest to you.

I am doing the same myself.... Definately go to Ikea (ikea.com). Everything is super affordable, but you have to put it together yourself... small price to pay for some nice stuff. Look through the 2007 catalogue online because not everything is offered through their website...
Also, someone mentioned to me overstock.com but I found even that to be too expensive.
