I think illegal immigration is a crime, and the people that support its' continuance need to be fined, and maybe even arrested.
Business leaders have really helped perpetuate this issue, they want cheap labor...well, slavery's illegal, but hiring people illegally at low wages is something the authorities turn a blind eye to, or at least they have, in years past, time will tell how it goes in the future, but at issue is still the fact that people still tolerate it, and as long as it'll be tolerated, it'll continue. Some cities/states have started some initiatives about this, but time will tell how all that works out.
I think open debate on the issue is pretty important, because without a thorough discussion of all angles and aspects of it, we will have at best band-aid answers for a growing problem.

Again assuming as others have that you are talking about people in the country illegally, its the biggest problem that the USA faces hands down.
There are millions of people who are "undocumented". Which of course means illegal. I think that it should be treated as what it is. A crime. That person is a criminal. Harsh as that may be and some of those people are surely decent people.
But you have to follow the rules.
I know that because of the law that if an illegal leaves they arent elligible for legal status to come back for 10 years. which I know is not much of an incentive for some who might want to do the right thing and go home and do the process legally. Perhaps that could be shortened some to maybe five.
Other than that rounding up illegals is not at all the way to go. Yes if some are found they should be dealt with according to law.
But the best way to fix the problem is to take away the incentive for it to occur.
i.e..... children born to illegals should not gain citizenship... illegals shoudl have no welfare benefits at all, no education benefits, no healthcare benefits other than life threatening emergency care.. no drivers licenses...
.. And of course people who employ illegals knowingly should be fined and business licenses suspended.
I have no problem with migrant workers, or people immigrating legally. If your in the USA , then unless your native american you came from someone who immigrated ( hopefully legally ).

Keep in mind that we we talk about living in a country built by immigrants, that those immigrants of yesterday had no social welfare programs. None. They either survived by their wits or labors or fell by the wayside. The cheap immigrant labor that benefits us with beautiful landscaping and 50 cent heads of lettuce is offset by a staggering bill to our social welfare systems, public schooling, medical and law enforcement. No one including the great nation we live in, is excempt from sound financial principles. If we spend too much, we will descend into bankruptcy. And it will not be pretty, no longer will all others desire the US Dollar. No nations will rush to buy our treasury bonds. This is certainly one of the top three items that we must sucessfully deal with.

It's real simple. Send them all back where they came from. "We can't deport 20,000,000" is bull. Deport them the same way they came in. It is estemated that illegal alliens cost American taxpayers $20 billion a year. Just one billion would pay a lot in transportation costs. Get the military involved. Ever see how many people you can fit in a C-130?

What illegal people? All people I know of are legal.
Unfortunately for you, you do not determine the law. Your laws carry no weight. So you must first understand the context of the situation as revolving around pre-established limitations. The limitations being the formal processes one undergoes to receive his citizenship.
Wrong, American law defines those people who received citizenship through formal processes as legal citizens. No, not all people are legal. Let's for a moment say that all people are inherently legal, this does not prevent them from committing illegal acts, such as crossing the border without formal recognition. Granting clemency to illegal immigrants undermines the millions waiting for hours in lines, pushed through piles of paperwork, studied for exams. The supporting of illegal immigrants is essentially the subversion of American government. What makes illegal immigrants deserve special recognition over millions of law abiding immigrants?

Well i think its crazy to allow illegal immigrants over here its bad enough we have homeless americans to worry about and its not all their fault. And secondly are jobs are being taken away and sent over seas cause its cheaper labor, which is crap .There needs to be a more strict law on that and also about jobs being taken away from our own country ,

My husband is a mexican from Mexico and he came here lagally, and got his papers. I think if you are here you need to be here legally, and getting legal is not that hard. A little pricey and timely but not hard. If they want to be here I think that they should do it the right way. If they are going to be here for a free ride then they need to go home!

Their immigration status may be illegal, but their personhood is not yet proscribed by law. I say "yet" because who knows what that wacky Congress might put out there?
