I do not know about a hormonal imbalance, but there are other factors that can cause problems with weight loss. Youre Dr. would be able to answer that question the best.
If you're looking for answers as to why you cannot loose weight, I would highly suggest talking to a Dr. you trust. Some people will have loads of difficultly loosing weight, and some who have a high metabolism seems to loose it as fast as they can eat. I do not suggest diet pills unless your Dr. agrees that they would be helpful to you and do no harm.
1)hyperactive or underactive thyroid. This has been a culprit to many people as this condition often goes undiagnosed for quite sometime. You can find out more about it by doing a search at google.com A Dr. can tell you if it's the cause, via a simple blood test.
2) Undianosed allergies. These can cause a lot of "allergy" weight. One common cause of this is wheat. Wheat has been known to cause some people to look swollen as if they have water weight. And, once again, some allergies go undiagnosed unless the person is known to break out in skin rashes. I have what's called a Gluten Intolerance to wheat. If I stay off wheat I'm far more the better health wise.
3) Water Weight. Some people's bodies store up water more than others.
4) Genetics. Some scientists swear that is this the determiner of what size you will or will not be.
5) Insulin Resistant. This is a condition where you're body is no longer using it's own insulin properly. It doesn't mean you're diabetic, or even hypoglycemic (chronic low blood sugar), but it can be a precursor to it.

You do not say what age you are but some of us start adding pounds as we get older from about age 25 on up. Thyroid imbalance is a hormone disorder and could cause weight gain and a whole bunch of other problems. There is a very wide range of normal for thyroid levels and should be addressed by an endocrinologist as family doctors seem to just know the level is within the normal range and look not further. Good luck

If something changed in the last four years that could alter your hormonal balance, it could be so. Sometimes it's your metabolism that needs revving up, so if your lifestyle has changed in the past four years, that could also be a factor.
Check with a dietician to make sure you have a well balanced diet, then check in with a fitness centre and put yourself on a weight loss program. There are two types of fitness programs. One is for strength, and that involves maximum effort, but to lose weight, you need moderate effort for a long period of time. For example, if you were to go out and run 1 mile every day, you would be building strength and stamina, and you would burn a few calories, but your metabolic rate would change and your body would become more efficient, so over a period of time, you would not be losing weight. If, on the other hand, you went out for a one mile walk every day, walking briskly enough to get your heartrate slightly elevated, you will burn weight off. That level of walking isn't enough to change your metabolism, but it does burn calories, and that's what you want.
Anyway, check with a dietician to make sure your diet is well balanced, as that can affect your metabolism too.
