I am looking for a new camera and I've narrowed it down to these choices:
Canon SD600 or SD630
Casio Exilim EX-S600, EX-Z600, or EX-Z70
I'm more concerned with shutter lag. I want a camera that I can take fast pictures with and has a low recycle time. I want something that is not bulky and looks good too. Good image quality of course, but mainly I want to be able to take quick snapshots. If there are any other suggestions for around the same price and style I'd appreciate it. Thanks

Get the SD600. Read this review:

http://www.steves-digicams.com/2006_reviews/sd600.html

The conculsion states, "Shooting performance was very robust with power up until the first image captured took only 1.3 seconds! Shutter lag, the delay between depressing the shutter button and capturing an image, was almost instantaneous (less than 1/10 of a second) when pre-focused, and only 1/10 of a second including autofocus."

Do not buy the similar SD630, because it lacks an optical viewfinder and you will find that it goes through batteries somewhat faster. There is slightly more shutter lag due to LCD refresh rates being higher. Slightly.

At the top end of the range, Canon cameras are very good. However down in the part of the market you're looking at it's not nearly as straightforward a choice and Casios are very underrated. Their models are generally extremely well thought out and have a design quality that runs pretty deep. Good solid metal bodies, as well.

Personally, at that end of the market, based on personal experience, I'd prefer a Casio.

My Casio EXILIM makes digital photography soooo easy, it has 20 preset "Best Shots" which set the camera to produce the best picture in the situation your in, some of these include, portriat, scenery, pets, children, fireworks, night portriat, night scenery, sports, there are 33 of them so they make taking pictures a lot easier because you don't have to set the shutter speed, ISO, or anything unless you really want to manually. I love this Camera and think it is a GREAT buy!!
