there really isn't... the standards of beauty change depending on cultural factors. Beauty overall in a more primitive sense stems from sign of youth, ability to procreate, and health. Girls that means good bones wide hips, full lips, toned skin. Boys, square jaw, muscular, good teeth, large penis (yes it counts!), tall etc.

There are different types of beauty. If you are talking about physical beauty, then yes...universally...faces and bodies that are symmetrical and physically fit are generally considered by the majority of the population to be more beautiful than those that are not symmetrical and fit. Even babies react differently and more positively to people that have facial proportions that are considered classically beautiful.

That said, beauty means more than physical beauty for humans. Someone can be less than perfect physically, however they can be considered a beautiful person (ex. Mother Theresa).

It seems like the packs of girls you're talking about are probably young and physical beauty is probably the main pre-requisite to attraction for them. This is common in young people because the other factors and realities of life are not in play yet. However, the older you get, the more factors come in to play (personality, earning potential, health, etc. etc.) and this changes somewhat.

The bottom line is, unless the people involved are exceedingly shallow, the attractions that draw humans to each other are more complex and complicated than outward appearances.

We occidentals are so full of ourselves that we never stop to consider that beauty is certainly in the eye of the beholder. Who is considered beautiful to you may be the ugliest thing a person from a totally different culture has ever seen and vice -versa were we to view whom they considered to be beautiful.

Our culture has perpetuated the myth of 'beauty' as seen through the eyes of the mass marketers because we are just a bunch of sheep! Just pick up any fashion magazine (Cosmopolitan, Vogue, GQ, Maxim etc...) and look at their twisted concept of the perfect human form. All their female models are thin and fit into anything they (the mass marketers) want to make you buy. Their male models are all Adonises, far from the real men out there.

There are some concepts that are universally accepted as beautiful such as works of art, architecture, dance etc. and even then there are people who find them ugly. When it comes to human beauty, the sky is the limit that only you can set!

You just answered your own question. Certian people like certain people. And that means that there is no universal beauty. But when a group of girls think that a guy is cute, its really just a trend. But this subject should not concern you. If you do your best to get a girls attention, then maybe you might be in the other dudes shoes.

They're all just agreeing with the alpha girl, and she's just agreeing with what she saw on tv. The world is full of sheep. Be a wolf.
