HPV causes like 70% of cervical cancer. So age and race does play a role. However, being sexually active is a big risk. I have HPV dysplasia, which is high risk to cancer. Now I have two kids and have had a tubal to prevent loosing a baby because of the cancer risk. Look up HPV on yahoo and see if it says anything about age and race.

This website said that older women are at a higher risk for getting cervical cancer. It also said that African American women's risk increases significantly more after 25 than other races.

Yes, but I believe having had a tubal ligation has more to do with cervical cancer, at least to the problems leading to hysterectomy. I have talked to hundreds of women who have had hysterectomies and they all have the same thing in common, tubals! Something to consider.

Race? I'm not sure.
But age can be a large factor, just like colorectal cancer, etc.

Look it up on Wikipedia.
