Since the bible was written by man who CLAIM to be writing down the words of god, should christians follow everything ordered in the bible. I mean, there are so many contradictory and repulsive statements in the bible, and it's all written down ( It's not misinterpritation, it is stated very clearly.) Why not just go with what you feel is right?

This is my source of where I found repulsive statements...

No. The Bible has many translations and therefore cannot be trusted 100%.

Sweetie_b aint such a sweetie is she?
I had this debate the other night with a very close friend of mine who claims to be christian and believe in the bible 100%, and I am self-proclaimed "ingnoramous" who believes very much in God, but holds a lot of doubt and questions regarding the Bible. First of all, their is not a soul out there that can tell you what you can/can't, should/shouldnt believe in. Your beliefs are your own and dont let anyone tell you differently. Pray for the answers and you will get them. But dont take anyone elses "testimony" as your own. You must come to it yourself.
I believe the bible is just a very very small fraction of the truth. And anyone who claims to know the truth is ignorant. And all those self proclaimed christians always seem to be the first to "cast the stone" so to speak. There are no true christians as far as I'm concerned because they don't have christian behavior.
So to answer your question.....Always do what feels right. The bible is most definently misinterpritted and completely less than accurate. If it was completely accurate, then why are there no passages in there by women? Did women not have a place in the bible? Did they not recieve the word of God? Horse$hit, I dont think that's the case......God does not discriminate. Men do.

The god of the bible is no more valid that the gods of the Norsemen or the ancient Greeks. But for the fact that Emperor Constantine decreed christianity the state religion as a means to settle civil unrest, instead of a Mormon or Baptist church down your street, you would be worshipping Zeus or Baal or a golden calf or (choose your favorite mythical diety) Case in point as Christmas just passed the facts were changed to make Jesus a god. The birthplace is sketchy - John states that Christ wasn't born in Bethlehem. Mathew has him in Bethlehem all along later moving to Nazereth. Luke has Jesus in Betlehem as a result of a census and having to return to the house of David, Joseph's ancester David was dead 1000 years so why would he go to Bethlehem for this census? (which history shows took place AFTER Herods death so this is historically inaccurate) Also if Joesph is NOT the father why would his lineage be relavent. Then, where the lineage is given, Mathew has 28 generations and Luke lists 41 with almost no overlap in the names listed. I wonder if anybody really reads the Bible. The truth is most people don't yet think they are religious. If they really believed they were reading the word of the almighty they would be reading the words over and over in awe of the truth they reveal. I would think if the bible was a fax from the almighty he/she (no gender without sexual identity) would know that man was not made from mud and the heavens don't orbit the earth.

Proper logic would dictate that
1) if you are a christian the only axiom you should have is true and trustworthy.
2) The Bible is a real book dealing with a F@# up world
therfore it will have hard to swallow Truth, no sugarcoated Neo hippie "God is Love man" mash. So if you cant handle it maybe
a sitcom or the next barneys episode is what you are looking for.
3)if you are interested The most precious Thing you will ever find is in it (the wole of it) that by virtue of your inadequacy God in his mercy Chose to send His only Begotten Son amidst this Fallen world to save your miserable soul (that goes for all of us).
4) You can gamble and believe let's say secular humanism which by the way we are still waiting for that load of crap to show
us how the west has been better without Jesus.
which ever way you go i hope you Find Him cause either way Only By Divine Providence The light comes on.

Okay, I watched the video. What atheists don't seem to comprehend is that those laws were given to a very specific group of people in a very specific time and place. They were part of the OLD covenant God made with the Israelites. However, God promised, "I will make a NEW covenant with the house of Israel and the house of Judah, NOT like the covenant which I made with their fathers when I took them by the hand to bring them out of the land of Egypt" (Jeremiah 31:31-32, emphasis mine). We Christians believe that Jesus instituted this new covenant. If you want to discuss how "repulsive" were the laws of the old covenant, you need to seek out those who do not recognize the new covenant, not Christians.

No because, think about it. The bible was written in a different language, so in some point in time, someone must've skipped something. then, the bible was made into other languages over and over again, all those mistakes must've piled up on eachother, so undoubtedly, some of the bible is most likely false.

For sure you can trust the Bible 100%, but not as a science book, or a philosophical theory. You can trust the Bible as a Religious Book, and it´s absolutely necessary to understand the sense of the text, not only the words. Don´t worry about difficult texts, ask about them to somebody who can explain you properly.

So to believe youtube which is posted by man is better than to believe the bible which was written by men inspired of God? I fail to see the logic in that. And yes, a christian should trust 100% of the bible or none of it at all. You cannot half step to God.

Anything can seem repulsive if you don't understand it. According to Christianity, Jesus answered the supposed horrible things that your wonderful "youtube" preacher went on about. I'm not a Christian, but it's fairly easy to see hogwash when you hear it... especially if you've heard the other side of the story as well.

Yes, I know there are some things that people don't agree with but most of the statements are from the Old testament and the Law. Now God is even more merciful once he sent his son Jesus down to live as man and die as a man. So now it is different.
