Mitsubishi Galant's are nice, but compared to the Sonata, it seems to fall. The base price for the Sonata is around $17,345. At this price it comes automatically equipped with ABS (Anti-lock braking system) and ESC (Electronic Stability Control) with traction. Also the Sonata comes with 6 airbags. 4 in front with 2 being seat mounted side airbags, and 2 side curtain airbags. Not to also mention that all Hyundai's come with a 10 year/ 100,000 miles warranty. Now for the Galant, it has a base price around 18 to $19,000. For around this price however for the Galant, ESC, Traction Control, and ABS is not available, but safety features are the same. With a comparsion between the engines the Sonata has 162 horsepower at 5800 torque and the Galant has 160 horsepower at 5500 torque. Gas mileage is also better on the Sonata with 24 mpg in the city and 34 on highway with having the Galant has 23 mpg in the city and 30 on highway.

Hyundai is good these days. The Honda Accord and Toyota Camry are known as the best, but the Hyundai Sonata beat them in a comparison test in a car magazine. The Mitsubishi Galant is an OK car. The galant is more fun to drive but the Sonata is a better choice and it is cheaper to own.

When you say better choice you may be referring to various items like pricing, features etc.
Anyway, firts I want to inform you that both Mistubishi and Hyundai are owned by the same company. As far as the Galant is concerned, it is a very good vehicle and always has been since its introduction into the market.
On the other hand, the Hyundai Sonata has been making waves throughout the industry for the value it offers. This totally redesigned model now stands up to many of the best in its class. This vehicle has also received many awards by various respected companies like JD Power & Associates, for best customer satisfaction and other categories.
In addition, it has received many safety awards. Hyundai has revolutionized the Korean maufacturing auto segment and is backing their products with an excellent warranty.
I vote for the Sonata, I have test driven both 4 and 6 cylinders and was very pleased with comfort level, power, luxury features and looks.
Good luck

WELLL Based off of the Big 3 American counterpart that each company is associated with I would definately say get the Hyundai Sonata. Also Hyundai is a Korean automobile and the laws there strictly state that ALL company profits have to be re-invested into the country to improve conditions for everyone. Mitsubishi is a Japanese company where all the profits go into the CEO's Pocket. OHH and I'd rather own a Ford than a Dodge if you were wondering who associated with who in the big 3

On Christmas eve I had the opportunity to drive a 2007 galant. I was IMPRESSED. I used to own a Sonata I admit an older model. But there was no comparison , the Galant is the better car.

Mitsubishi has really gone downhill in the last few years. Hyundai made some junk in the 80's and early 90's but now their quality is as good as anybody. I would pick the Sonata.

I would definitely go for the Hyundai Sonata. i know mitsubishi is japanese car and japanese car has good rep, but misubishi is probably one of the crappiest japanese car out there, plus they have been going down. I know it only happened recently, but hyundai is improved alot, It doesn't fall behind toyota or nissan. The V6 model of 06 sonata is the bomb, looks pretty good too, Hyundai has electronic stability control that comes standard. Could be a lifesaver. you get way more for your money if you go with Sonata. Sonata has more power and more efficient.

Hyundai Sonata - hands down!
I got one with a V6 and it is awesome. It doesn't have a speed inhibitor chip. It goes up to 147 mph - but there have been reports of people going 155 mph.
Plus has a ton of standard stuff camry, accord, and galant don't have.
The stability control got me a discount on my insurance too.
All around it has been the best car I have bought.
