Lately, my 5-year-old cat has been waking me up in the middle of the night. This is nothing new--he is a spoiled boy and knows he will get attention, but lately it seems all he wants is for someone to keep him company when he eats. After he's done, he goes back to sleep. I'm thinking of bringing his food dish into the bedroom at night so he dosn't have to eat alone while I'm asleep.

we really are a strange bunch of folks, aren't we? i used to have a cat that insisted on being petted while she ate, she'd eat without the petting, but if one of us was home she'd meow and lead you to her dish for her petting while she ate. we really spoil our feline companions, don't we? spoil them rotten rotten rotten. (and we love doing it.)
our cat we have now insists on eating when i get home from work, she knows i'll be sitting not far away, eating too. so we are sharing a meal in a very real sense. (though she is eating cat food and i am eating people food). sometime i fry up a mess of chicken livers and we sit on the floor and share with her majesty. (it is a rare treat for her...does she ever love it!)

My cat waits for me to come in to pet her as she eats when I get home from work. At other times she will meow to have me go pet her as she eats at different times of the day if I am home.

No, your cat is not the only one who like company when eatting.
Be ready to clean up after then. Cat can be messy with thier food.

I have my cats food bowls in a corner of my bedroom. They wouldn't eat anywhere else. I used to have to be physically present while they ate, but now, they don;t mind eating by themsleves.

Simple, get another pet if you have the responsibly enough for one. My cat doesn't do anything with out the other. Putting the bowl in your room is a good idea. LOL, your cats as spoiled as my Danny!

My kitten hates when He eats alone. He cries until I have to be in the same room with him while he eats. And he wont eat if I dont eat something with him.
