They can be stored in the freezer for up to a year or maybe a bit more. I have stored nuts in the freezer many times and it works great.

Yes, you can freeze them. For about 6 months if covered well.

FREEZING NUTS
To keep nuts like walnuts, almonds and hazelnuts fresh, double bag in tightly sealed freezer bags and place in the freezer.
Most nuts can be kept this way for up to 6 months.
When you are ready to prepare, just pull from the freezer and chop.

Yes, you can freeze nuts for at least six months in a ziploc bag, or something similar, and they actually stay fresher this way too.

I'd imagine the nuts wouldn't be a 'fresh', crunchy texture anymore...I wouldn't.
